The other side of the House on Wheels has

a 12 foot long slide.

We are using it for our 1. TV/office storage area

2. Beverage/snack/and misc area 3. and extra storage for dishes and misc.

Okay now don't laugh....and remember we are not traveling.

We couldn't sale our TV for a smaller one...so we wiggled and waggled

this monster in...it is like being at the theatre down front watching a movie...lol

We found this dresser being given away. So we took the drawers out...so we could get

Rubbermaid's in them. I have toys and

books under the dresser for the little ones when they come over.
I made a small table for little ones to use.

I attached a cloth to cover up the storage.

Smaller TV is 2nd on our list to get!!! No traveling with this monster!

Extra Dishes and Misc.

I brought my vintage blue dresser with us.

This is something I made 15 years ago...and I adore it.

Walker put the screened doors on it for me.

I store my larger kitchen items in it

and some glassware. The top is for seasonal decorating.

(If traveling this packs up into one box with packing wrap

The dresser would be strapped to the wall with hooks and a strap.)

Kitchen Work Table

This table was with the RV. It is movable.

I wanted a larger space for morning coffee, tea, snacks and

accessories for cooking .

Could I do without this area...sure..I can squeeze anything into my kitchen....

but I had this area open so why not!!!
Curtains still need to be hung...oh Walker....

This works great for us.

We could of eaten here but it was a tight...tight squeeze.

Argh...I need space....lol

~~~~~Thoughts on living in an RV~~~~~

I know I have too much in here..Someday I'm sure I will get cramped in here...I will let

some stuff go...but for now...this is working for us.

What works for you? Think outside the box. I use

glassware to hold most of my pantry staples. Yes mice will find their

way into your new home.( We have stuffed steel wool in all the crevices we can find)

If traveling I would use other containers...for less breakage.

But I do love to see things in glass...and the light reflects off them during the day.

Remember..... we aren't traveling!

My House on Wheels has a large wall to wall cabinet in the back of the house.

Before

If we were boon docking....they would be filled with food and supplies.

If we were traveling the doors would still be on them.

(and I can pack all this into 2 laundry baskets for traveling)
I have found thin packing wrap at furniture stores being thrown away.
I just cut it up and write on it with a sharpie marker for re-use.

I had Walker take the doors off. They can be put back on.

When you have 5 children and 11 grandchildren you need a place for pictures.

(If you zoom in and they are blank...I am waiting for all new pictures)

For Christmas this will be emptied and decorated.

Where the TV should be...we have the printer.

Walker uses it all the time.

The TV....well.... that will be shared later in another post....lol

The hamper (Goodwill find) stores my company sleeping sheets and blankets

and also serves as a table for drinks for guest.

Again if I was Boon docking.....this would hold extra paper goods.

This RV was a complete blank inside when we bought it.

We have 3 slides. The Den/dining is huge.

We made the decision to put as much of our stuff in here to fill like home...just smaller.

I will share with you some other areas later.

~~~~~~~My thoughts for living in an RV...not traveling~~~~~~~~

Look for large living and as big a kitchen as you can find.

My kitchen is one of the biggest they made back in 98.

LOVE IT!!

I cook all our meals.

It would be nice to have this home sitting

under a roof...with a covered patio...our goal down the road.

Then we would build an outside kitchen. I still want to do some canning down the road.
And cooking for our large family get togethers would be nice under a roof.

A Year in Rememberance

Remembering our friends Margie and Bruce.

A year ago her daughter Stephanie posted

a post that sent the RV world into a nightmare.

Her parents...walking on the beach at Pismo Beach

were tragically Run over and both were killed.

My world changed along with so many other followers of Margie's blogs.

My friend was gone. My companion in blogging was gone.

Margie had been supporting me blogging...thru her comments

her phone calls and her precious emails she sent me.

Walker and I had enjoyed a precious moment in life in an afternoon

with them in New Braunfels for some BBQ and sweet fellowship.

Margie's words of wisdom still come to me weekly.

You never know how much someone is influencing you till they are gone.

I miss her...I pray for Stephanie and the grand daughters daily.

I look at life ....well it can be short....enjoy...

live life to the fullest...and share yourself with others.

One year....

Real Life

Real Life

It has now been a little over a month

of living in the our Home on Wheels.

The first week was all a blur..

The sadness of moving out of our home....the looking for items

that we needed...the cleaning up around the Barn/Workshop...

and just life in general.

The second week we started living a little more normal.

Routines were established.

And I had to come up with some Privacy/Space Rules...lol

Wow Everywhere you turn...you are next to each other.

Changing clothes...oh my....not a lot of room.

So now we have established some Bedroom-Bathroom rules...

and it works!

The kitchen is no longer kicking

my patootie!

Little counter space...I have MASTERED!!!

For someone who likes to cook and we cook all our meals.

The Kitchen has been our hardest challenge.

We haven't hooked up our propane..I am cool with it.

Electric skillets,crock pots and microwaves are fine for now.

The fridge is now on my to do list about every 10 days

for routine defrosting. Getting quicker each time I do it. Less mess.

Washing clothes...well Walker hooked up my large Washer

and Dryer over at the shop.I just need to come up with

a wagon with wheels to pull over the laundry basket.

I love designing inventions!! Walker dreds it....lol

I have learned to pull the levers for the Weekly drainage

of the tanks. I want to try and know how to do everything on the House.
I think...no I know the Large awning...well I cannot do.

For those considering living in a House on Wheels.....
Really LIKE you spouse....lol If you don't get along in a large house
Heaven help you....lol

Be creative...we have looked at some much newer models
and I see no personality. I am an advocate of color..homemade...and
creative usage of containers.

In future pictures you will see things in my pictures and say...
What is she thinking...lol
First we are NOT traveling. And even if we were..
there is still alot I would carry with us.

I love using my antiques for serving on
for decorating with and for storage.

If they break...so be it. At least they are not stuck
in a box in storage. I can enjoy them.

We....Walker and I ...fall into a large category
of families that have moved into Homes on Wheels for survival...not travel.

My daily life is similar to my living in a Brick Home.
There are still clothes to be washed...(Not so many)
floors to be cleaned ( In 20 minutes vs 2 hours)
Bathroom cleaning ( 10 minutes vs 45 min for two bathrooms)
Dishes to be washed...(littler sink...boiling water for hot water....vs dishwasher)
Evenings watching TV and playing on Internet....(Same)
Grocery shopping (Same) just have to be creative storing...lol

So you see....you can do it.!!!!!!
We live on our property. We could do this in a Trailer Park also.
I would recommend this life...Only if you have prayed about it...talked and re-talked about it.
And truly enjoy being around your spouse.

Home on Wheels

Well we have arrived....Well.... I should say we have pulled the House on Wheels to the backyard...and we are now pretty permanent. Electrical, sewer and water lines are now in place and we have been living in it for two weeks now.

Still working out some kinks...no hot water...but it is so warm no problem...the hose keeps it warm. You take super fast showers...lol Walker will be replacing it soon.

I have a question...defrosting the Double Door Norcold refridge-freezer. There were no books with this monster...I mean home. Ladies how often do you defrost it and how do you defrost it???

We won't be traveling in this House on Wheels...but she is now our full time home. We rented our home to the first people to contact us...it was our daughter wanting to move back home...it worked for us...lol I don't know how long they will be here. It should be for at least for 6 months.Walker is still hunting for work...he has been building cabinets for Kelly's new store.

We have an extra RV hook up here at the Ponderosa...so give us a holler when travelling thru. We are looking forward to Ali and Ron staying with us in 2 weeks for our County Fair weekend.

Help!

Who really uses their gas stoves and ovens in their Homes on Wheels?

Who uses their convection ovens instead?

Pro's and Con's please.

We cook almost all our meals.

I have an Electric skillet, crock pot, and outside grills.

I am super creative and can make just about anything

in an electric skillet...so...do we keep the gas stove and oven in the

Home on Wheels? Or do we replace her with at large convection oven?

Now remember we are staying put...limited traveling in her.

New Beginnings

Morning!

This has been a long past week.

Furniture was given to family members to use and to store.

Boxes were labeled...Seasonal...Future projects and House.

The ones marked House are packed up and will be opened when we are in a house again.

The Home on Wheels is just about loaded.Things have been removed

that I thought I needed and yikes...Goodwill or storage here we come.

I need to make some curtains...there will be trip to Hancock fabric this week.

We took the back yard fence down..and now we have a young tree that has to come out

before we can move the Home on Wheels in the backyard.

Electrical lines will be run and maybe we will be in her this weekend.

There is still alot to be done in the house before the renters get here.

By the way ....I didn't have to run an ad in the paper...the renters will be our youngest

daughter and her family. Just for about 6 months.

Then we will run the ad. This will be a good transistion

for me. I will still have my home a little bit.

I hope to have pictures of our new home soon...Please thank you for hanging in

there with us on this long decision. I have valued each and everyone

of your ideas and your talks on what you have done with your homes on wheels.

Stephanie posted about her parents this weekend. One thing Margie always told me...

was to be myself...and not to follow others ways on decorating...so..Margie...I think of you

often and I know you would of enjoyed parking next to us...and just chillin!!

I hope any of you traveling thru this way will give us a holler..for overnight staying.

We are putting in an extra plug for those Homes on Wheels.

New Chapter, Same Family

Hello Friends.

Can we say long Hot summer!!

We have been miserable in this heat and soooo dry also.

The garden quit along time ago. No harvest this year.

We are in the process of replanting some heat loving veggies...

will see.

We should be on our 2nd cutting of hay.Nope none.

The farmers are in serious trouble here.

The New Chapter?

We are currently moving in the next 2 weeks into the

"House on Wheels"

We are moving to.......

our backyard....lol

We have a little over an acre here...and the back of the house and property

is what we will be using. The garden, Chickens, Shop and Storage.

And of course the pool will be for our use.

We are renting our home out.They will have the front yard and side yard.

I guess all the studying, reading and chatting about living

in the House on Wheels is now going to come true.

And we haven't even slept in her yet....lol

Wow this is going to be fun!! I feel a lot of writing coming on....lol

I will be taking lots of pictures in a few weeks and sharing.

Looking forward to actually doing this.

Summer in South Texas

Hi Everyone!

Wow it has been awhile since I last posted.

What have we been up too?

Not much..lol

Why you ask? It has been so hot since May.

No really... we have never-ever been like this in May and June.

100's are our norm right now..they should be low 90's.

This is miserable..and we are in a severe drought.

Everything is ugly brown.

We are still living at the house.

I have re-packed most of the contents that weren't in storage already.

My piles were labeled..A..B..C

A....Live in the RV on our acreage ..with all cooking and washing in the rv

B....Live in the RV for Insurance Duty during Hurricane season...survival stuff..and minimal other things.

C....Live in the RV after we build a RV house with a full kitchen and utility on property.

Anything left after ABC..well it goes to Goodwill or trash!

We still are wafting between selling or renting the house.We have been here

25 years...we love this place..this is our children's home.

If the economy would change..we could hang in there.

So...I just pack and organize and

really try to re-think the need to keep items.

We were gardening..but in this heat..bye bye garden!

I will try to get better at posting again.

Spring 2011

Hello friends...no I didn't fall off the face of the earth.I have been just chilling...and sorting out life's direction for us.

We are still in our home...the RV...is sorta packed and decorated...boxes for the home are still in storage...and I have been living the past 10 weeks in Oklahoma with my daughter and her 4 children.My son-in-law is overseas..Air Force.I will be headed home in the next 2 weeks.Yeah!!

Walker has planted 2 acres of gardens...I will be a busy camper when then veggies come in.When travelling thru South Texas...give us a shout out for some fresh veggies after May.

Speaking of Spring and travel....my heart and memories go back to last year at this time...the Bluebonnets were in full bloom the best year ever....and Bruce and Margie...well they were in Kerrville..and enjoying Spring in Texas.We met them in New Braunfels for BBQ and some good talking and visiting.So many plans were made for this year...they were going to stay closer by and we were going to go sightseeing...fish...visit..and do some more eating! How life can change. My heart is still so heavy when I think of them.Their love for adventure and good health..and of course their family...will always be there in my memories.

I hope and pray each of you is doing well.I have enjoyed reading on most of your adventures...changes of lifestyles...and even new rigs.I don't know where God is leading us...or where we will call home down the road...I just know we are in His hands and on His course.

No not mentally..weight wise. 10 pnds in 2 weeks. I am determined to get this off!! I need to get healthy..for me..for my husband..for my kids..for my 10 grandchildren...whoops..correction....11..ELEVEN..you heard me..# 11 is due in May. Will the tie breaker of the 5 grandsons and 5 grandaughters be a a girl or boy? Hmmmm I guess we will have to wait and see..lol

We have sold a ton of hay.For the farmers..and for hayrides..my goodness this was the year for hayrides.I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Walker sure ate the candy..lol We had some little grandchildren come by also.

Several of you ladies mentioned wanting to loose weight also. I will state this... I will never be or could even come close to how Margie had her weight loss blog. I feel like she was the Queen of sticking to the daily living of watching points and weighing in. Me ...well I am taking one day at a time..and really watching what I eat. Lots of water...smaller plates..and a ton of vegetables.

Amzing Race was a little easier to watch this week. Stephanie and family are still on my mind and heart.
Margie seems to pop into my head..every now and then..just to encourage me on the weight. I know it's her words in my head..lo I will do this!!

Whoo-Hoo Monday

Whoo-Hoo..it is Monday..never my favorite day..usually a day for me to try and catch up with some much needed rest.
Today..well it is a whoo-hoo sad day for me..but whoo-hoo because..Everyone is safe. Everyone has been relatively well..and I made it thru another Amazing Race night.
I cracked up at one time..and started to write Margie a comment of the happening..then I paused....no I can't write Margie....And then I did anyhow..I wrote..I talked..then I erased. It felt weird..yet good. It will take me a while to get used to not chatting with her. I can't even imagine how Stephanie is feeling. Lets not back away from thinking and praying for them.
It is a whoo-hoo day for me on weight loss. Margie's other blog..was filled with great wisdom and learning tools for healthy weight loss.She was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. I can't go to meetings..or afford dues...but I can re-read her chats..on food and points..and I have put them into my life.A week of pigging out would of been how I coped with stress..not this week..I refrained..and truly felt like she was guiding me on what to NOT to put in my mouth! I lost 4 1/2 pounds. Whoo-Hoo!!
Jobs are limited again around here..Walker has been working in the Hay field..and will be working at our daughters house for the next few weeks.
Everybody have a Whoo-Hoo week..enjoy the sunrises..the sunsets..the company you are with..and the little accomplishments..that are sooo hard to do.

A Week of Reflection

Good afternoon friends. Yes... so many of you have become close friends..especially this past week. With the news of the passing of our friends Bruce and Margie..it seems we all needed to reach out to each other a little more than usual. There were feelings expressed that maybe were understood..but now your friends know how each of you feel about them. How much all of us whether we have met or not..have become a community of family and some of us if we are really lucky have made Forever friends.

I will Miss Margie ..each day as I opened my blogs..I looked for her comments..I looked for her blog with her daily's.Bless Stephanie's heart for keeping us notified..informed and even sharing her little daily's with us.

It was my idea for a book..and I would be the first in line to buy one..to have her writings..to read occasionally..what a gift for her family!! There are several companies out there that will literally make a book out of your blogs. Maybe you could do it by travels..by recipes..by the year...what a treasure to look at later down the road..or to share with your grandchildren..your adventures!!

"Margie" we hauled hay this weekend..I drove the large green John Deere tractor..I thought of you..wishing I had a camera..then I thought..no you see..you are smiling!! You would of been so proud of me this week..I didn't turn to food during my grieving..the first time ever. I heeded your words..I stayed away from the food.
I still cry...but I seem to see things so much clearer now..Thank you for that gift for me and for others..to live life..to express yourself..no matter what others might think..to enjoy life!!

There are no words right now!! Our hearts are breaking!!

These two were our friends.

Margie was my advisor in RV living...

She was my friend in scrapbook talking

grandchild rearing..

She was my personnel cheerleader behind the scenes of my blogging

always encouraging me to never give up.

When I was picked on about decorating the rv

she defened me..and said to live for me and not others.

She loved food as I do..

she knew the personnel battles we fought for loosing weight..for she had done it!!

I will miss her sense of humor..her detail to her surroundings..

her encouragement ...her no nonsense get up and try again personality!!

I will miss her pictures of her trips..of the unique way she saw things...

I know she is seeing some awesome Sunsets..and they are walking on a glorious beach...

I know they are in God's arms!!

Last Friday was a year ago I started this blog. At that time we thought we would be living in our House on Wheels. The House on Wheels has been really packed..semi-packed..and now kind of packed. There will be no hurricane work this year....no living in the House on Wheels.

I have researched..living in the House on Wheels...all the info we need to survive in it without electricity..how to stock it full of supplies for a long time....I have read all the info out there on everybody's blogs about your fun..your travels..your lifestyles..your House on Wheels living. I have a virtual head full of knowledge about what and how we should do. And still the House on Wheels stills sits in our yard..no camping..no experience in it yet..no House on Wheels.

I have decided to close down this blog. I have my other blog..Rick-Rack and Gingham.You are welcome to visit me over there. There is all this guilt on me to write about the House on Wheels..and there is nothing to write! I have sooooo enjoyed meeting you all and being friends on this blog. I will keep you as my friends..and will be reading still on you guys and your lives. If and when we ever take the challenge to live in the House on Wheels..I will be back..the name will be changing.

A update for you..Miss Paisley's test today...Her one kidney and the rest of her organs are doing great. She can do just about anything when she gets older..just no contact sports! She will have a life with some monitoring..and caffeine won't be in her vocabulary..but she will be just fine.The rest of the kids and there families are doing just fine! Walker is working and baling hay right now.We will survive this..God has a plan for us..I just need to let Him guide us..and not be such a control freak.

Water Rising..and Prayers

Good morning all!! A friend of mine in Wisconsin has sent out prayer request..the Black River is suppose to crest at or above 60 feet today. If you remember the flooding on the Mississippi in 1993..this is what is going on! the Black River heads to the Mississippi.

With that being said..so many of you are camping...find out how it was in 1993 around where you are in and around the Mississippi.

Second request...our granddaughter who was born 2 weeks ago today..we have found out..was born with one kidney.And it has some kind of blockage..so says the ultra sound.The other kidney just disappeared????

We have not really been told much of anything...my daughter sees the Pediatrician today..and the pedi-urologist on October 5th. She seems to be doing fine..peeing..pooing..and eating!! Please remember her in your prayers.

Our Newest Baby

Yesterday at 4:00 Miss Paisley was born to Adam and our daughter Kelly. This is their third child She has 2 big brothers!!

Everyone is doing fine!! Paisley does have some mild Kidney problems that they knew about and have been monitoring them. We will know more in the next few weeks. Please keep her in your prayers.

For you new followers..the playbook goes like this...we had 5 children..Kelly is our #3. She has now given us our 10th grandchild. Luckily for us she lives locally. The others live out of town.

We now have 5grand boys..9,7,5,4 and 2...and 5 grand girls...7, 5, 22 months, almost 5 months, and a newborn..

To say the least..Walker and I should of taken stock out in Huggies and baby shampoo!! lol

Hi Ya'll!! Thought I would give Ya'll some Texas Chatter.

This here is going to be a doozy of a week. With a wind tumbler..heaven spitter season upon us. (that would be a tropical storm) Now in these parts..we are known for flash flooding..giving us the name Flash Flood Alley!! When the cricks (creeks) rise..the saying is "Turn around don't drown!" So many in this neck of the woods..drive big trucks and they don't think twice before crossing the cricks!! Foolish!!!! It doesn't take much water to move them tires..and then you have yourself a redneck boat...not smart!!

We are expecting 4-9 inches in a 48 hr period.This here household is always safe from floods..but there are some cricks to cross to get to town..and if the river gets hit hard..we can loose electricity. Never fear..Prepared Queen is here!! Always with filled up drinking jugs..batteries for flashlights..propane for cooking tanks..food to eat...yep we be prepared!!!

Now for the questions...

1. When traveling down the road...do you leave your day/night shades..up or down?

2. When traveling quite a distance..do you have water in your water tanks?

3. Do we need to carry a large outside trash can with us?

4.Do the parks ya'll visit..let you secure your awnings in the ground..or with buckets?

5. I notice some of you travel with bird feeders and the like..restrictions in parks on those?

6. How many of you really use large carpets in front of the House on Wheels? And If you do..what do you recommend?

7. Favorite movies to watch? (I bet that thru you off..lol)

Hello out there..yes we are alive!! The trip to Oklahoma that we took to help our Daughter Wendy..wore us out!! The heat..the moving and the overnight drive home..we shouldn't be doing those kind of trips..lol

Things are going slow as usual...Our a/c was broke for 24 hrs here..motor replaced..we are back to a great night sleeping!! Yah!!!

Now I have some questions..that I have been bouncing around in this here noggin!! I know be scared!! lol

These are for those of you who have travelled in and out of all kinds of parks ..and for those who stay for awhile somewhere.

First question....Clotheslines...Do ya'll use them? I have seen the ones that attach to the trailer..would you use one that was portable and free standing? Do parks allow them?

Second question...gardening..Do any of you garden out of pots while traveling? Do parks allow garden pots?

Third question....Do you really eat outdoors at a table..or are most meals inside?

Just doing some deep thinking..lol Thanks for helping!!

Where are we?

First of all..where are we? It is hot...NO..really hot!!There are lot's of children here. We have all been working..some way more than others..lol There is a pool involved and soon to be moving boxes.

Give up? We are up in Oklahoma..home of the heat wave for the summer.lol The children...well..we are staying at my daughters best friends home..never slept in a room with so many cars on the wall..lol My daughter is a Wendy she has 4 children under 9..her best friend is a Wendy also..she has 3 under 10 with one she keeps everyday..that is 8 children..6 dogs ..one camper with my daughters family in it..and lots of cereal bowls..corn dogs...and chips..lol

We have been up here a week on Saturday. Wendy sold her home and moved into their RV ..and living on her best friends property. We came here to work on the pool so when they close this morning it is a done deal!! Walker is worn out..so are Carl and Wendy.To save cost they 90% of the work themselves..and I mean work. I will post pictures next week.

Margie mentioned this morning in her blog about etsy. I assumed all knew about this..but just in case here goes.

There is Etsy..what you might ask is this..imagine e-bay on Craft Crack. lol No I am serious..you have Never seen so many different crafts for sale in all your life. And you don't have to pay for parking..or entry fees to browse..you just use your mouse..lol

It set up like ebay..without the bidding wars...pay pal is your friend. Just go to etsy.com..type in what you are searching for..example ...wedding table decorations..and walla..pages and pages of pictures to look at..and to order from.Everything is handmade..or vintage.

There are now etsy malls..some of the crafters with unique items have been asked to be in malls..where there is one stop shopping.

I have done my research..yes I am thinking about opening a store front in Etsy..in the future. So I asked a lot of questions. Most use to sale their crafts via e-bay and arts and crafts sales..no more.. they do it all on etsy. The cost is low..no problems..because you use pay-pal..and it is sooo easy.

It would be a fun way for full-timers to sale their crafts.And of course to shop!!

Hay Season

It is hot..hot..hot here. We did get a second cutting of hay!! He parked the hay trailer in front of the house..farmers have been stopping by to purchase it. Met a lot of interesting people! lol

Walker has been cutting the other field all day today..and he is fixing to unload 100 bales in a barn for a guy.Walker grew up in the hay business. His Dad DeLay had a coastal sprigging company. (that means he planted the grass that makes the hay) In High School I drove the trucks for the guys to haul hay..fun! lol

When I met Walker at college he told me about his love for the hay business.Many of our dates in school involved hay hauling! After we got married..our girls would ride with us in the hay truck..I would take a blanket for them to go to sleep on the hay!! 34 years later ..we are still in the hay fields.

Tractors have changed thru the years..fields have changed..but the hauling it in....well it's the same..hot ..dusty...and hard..hard work!! I am so proud of my husband!! Hard work is never not in his vocabulary!!

So here's to all our farmers out there..Thank you..for all your hard work!

That Tick-tick-ticking is the sloooowww way of life for us with the future House on Wheels. I am living my travelling thru Nellie over at Diary of a Midlife Cruiser right now....If she survives all this adventure..I am sure I can!..lol

Walker is bailing hay..this weekend..and trying to dodge the 30% rain showers in our area...so far so good..just 2 more days...then it can rain at the farm..hay will be up in a barn.

The garden....well she is dead..kaput..bye..bye!! She was good while she lasted. The okra might be salvageable..if I can find it in the weeds..lol....can we say shredder..not mower.The wild grapes are ready to be picked all over the county...I will let you know if we do that this week....MMMM grape jelly!

Walker's daily work is slow..He has a few things to do in a week or two..if some bids come in..we will be swamped with work..all at the same time..yikes!

I have been battling mice in the real house and the RV .We have never had such a problem...I guess all the rain...and high grass in the fields around us..they are multiplying...this also means we have rattlesnakes..they eat the mice...We need to be oh so careful!!!!!

Thanks for all the prayers for my dad. He is doing really well...starting to use the cane with the therapist around..he has a lot more movement to it now..yeah..Way to go dad!!

Knee Surgery for Dad

As many of you know I am here in Canton taking care of my dad as he is recovering from knee replacement surgery. At 81 one of his parts just wore out!! Too bad we don't get that kind of coverage on our appliances..lol

Here is a picture of his knee..1 week after the fact.There are 19 staples in this knee. They come out this coming Thursday..ouch! He is in little or no pain. Just some Tylenol and Motrin combo!!

This is new to me..it is an Arctic cooler. Awesome..no wet bags..no messing with ice every hour. You put ice in the cooler with some water..open the top spout..connect the tube to the blue cooler bag..and walla COLD very Cold blue bag for swelling!!! No mess!! A lot of moaning tho..tee hee!!

This is the machine that bends his knee..for 6-8 hrs a day. You can go all night with it on..or break it up into 2 hr intervals. This is what we do. He started off on level 60..now he is on 86 fixing to be on 90 this afternoon. The goal is 150 by the end of next week. It doesn't hurt..he can sleep with it on!!

There is now a lot of bed exercises..and laps around the house with his walker. I bet next week the therapist tries him on a cane..yikes!!Things have fallen into a routine around here. I do miss home tho!!

Well this is just a small picture of my life right now..not as exciting as Nellie's life right now..but someday. lol

News from the Brewers

Yes we are still alive and kicking..just some of us..me..is in Canton..and the other us..Walker ...is back home in Seguin.

My dads surgery went well..he will be home as of tomorrow a week. He sees a in house therapist 3 times a week..she said for a 81 yr old man he is doing great and is ahead of schedule..off all pain meds..just using Tylenol and Motrin.

Walker has been fertilizing the hay field back home..and the rains are helping the growth of the hay!! His work has slowed..so we are praying for some more steady work.

I will be heading home in about 12 days or so...I can't wait to see the family.

Walker said there is okra..and some tomatoes and the peppers are going crazy. He is going to mow the rest down and get it ready to go again.

Still waiting for a hurricane..he is working on the rv this week while I am gone.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for my dad. We felt them!!

I am trying a Sprint mi-fi while I am here..better than dial-up..but there is no video..limited pictures can be seen..slower than my speed dial at home. the first one we had..the battery was faulty..exchanged it for a new one..this one was working..then wham bam..the screen won't light up..it just does it's beeps..that I recognize from earlier that it is working..to sum it up I think it's a piece of CR--!!!! This will be returned next Thursday when we get close to civilization again. I'm thinking an AT&T air card is next to try!! lol

Wendy and Carl have been roofing their house for the closing of it in 12 days. And boy did they get hit by the rain..she has that Brewer curse..lol Carl finished up today! Lori and Brad are thinking of some job moves..and that would mean moving closer to us!!Kim and John will be visiting me this weekend..I will get to see Miss Emma and Christopher..yeah a Nana fix!! I missed Owens 5 th birthday back home..I sang to him on the phone..and he told me he loved me..all is well.Lance has been helping put a barn..and working round the clock.Praise God for all our health!!

What's Happening?

NOTHING!! Sorry folks..it is still just calm sailing here. To many I'm sure this would be a welcome life..to us well we would like to hit the road...jump into the full timing life...welcome an adventure or two..okay enough with the quotes!! lol

The garden is still alive and ..coming in strong..I have put a mental curse on the cucumbers to stop..but they don't seem to be affected by it. They have produced....plenty for neighbors....24 pints of Hot Dill Pickles...40 pints of Sweet Pickles...for us. I am pickled out. the fumes of vinegar..yuck!! All joking aside..Praise God for this year's bounty. They are few and far between ..with our extreme heat summers.

The tomatoes are heavy with their loads..just not turning red. the squash..well I have been dehydrating them..the freezer is full of them..and now I have jars full of the dried ones..and we eat fresh weekly cooked and fried.The neighbors are giving them to their friends.

The okra well..it's just showing it's colors!! I have dehydrated it..pre-battered it and froze it..and of course eaten it. The black-eyes still making it to our freezer.

Yes we have Garden!! Anyone traveling thru here..please give us a heads up..we could meet you and visit..and of course send you home with the garden..(I mean a few vegetables)..lol

Walker still has some work..children are all doing fine. The hay was brought in last week and we have sold some! The pool is finally usable..we just had to drain a little water out..(23,000 gallons) out..Hmmm maybe that is why the garden is doing so well...I am re-organizing the rv.The dryer works great!!

I will be limiting my writing here and over at Rick-Rack and Gingham..my commenting and visiting with you guys also. Starting this up-coming weekend we will be headed to my folks house. Walker will be dropping me off..my dad is having knee replacement next week..I will be his full time nurse..no I'm not Really a nurse..should of been tho!! lol The reason I am limiting my visiting..they have dial-up on their computer.Slowwwww. But hey they do have service!! Praise God for that. I will be checking in.You know me..to curious to what everybody is up too.

Happy Anniversary to Us

Today June 19th..34 years ago..late in the evening..I said yes to marrying Walker. Well.... technically....the Justice of the Peace was saying..Walter.....hmmm so who did I marry.?....lol

Well I know..whom I married..my college sweetheart..the hardest working man that I know...Best loving Father to his 5 children..much loved Papaw..who always takes the time outside with the grandkids...who has taught his girls how to use tools.

If he was a dog..(and I'm not comparing him to one...) He would be described as loyal..faithful to a fault...moocher (for sweets)..playful (loves to tease)...great companion (will go to antique stores!!)..sentimental.(He loves is nest..home..castle..family)...

He can fix just about anything..if not..he knows how to creatively use duct tape and bailing wire..lol
He can make any kind of furniture out of wood and other elements. He can grow some great gardens!

He has.. Never once complained about anything I have fixed for a meal. He has never said a word when sometimes the house has swallowed me up in chores to be done...He has never given me the look..for my crying breakdowns.(I'm sure he wanted too)..

He is a strong God fearing Christian....He will stand up for what he believes politically! He has stood beside me thru all my sickness..and medical nightmares..and cost.

Oh my..He sounds perfect..He's not..nor am I!! There are times..I would probably scream..over our financial stuff..but it has made us stronger.But he's mine and I love him!! lol

We have had 34 years of marriage today..did I know what I was doing 34 years ago? I knew I loved him..deeply..that hasn't changed. I knew he was a GOOD person..that hasn't changed...I knew he wanted a large family and would be great with kids..that never changed...I knew that he loved me..and wanted me..that hasn't changed!!

Soo did we know..how life was going to be..the ups and downs..the financial....the sickness..the everyday life that creeps in..Nope!! If told what it was going to be like..would we have done it..Yep!!!!

So with that said..Happy Anniversary Walker!! Looking forward to hitting the road with you!!!

Garden Update

Well here she is today..this morning..We stripped most of the goodies off of her Saturday..so we could spray yesterday for Squash bugs..who were stripping my plants of all there young growth. It also took care of those pesky little grasshoppers..and of course the fire ants. What miracle spray do we use. Molasses!
Whattttt..molasses..that is what I thought also! But it works!! I don't know how..but it does..and it's not harmful to us humans to eat the crop later that day!!

We are still harvesting a 5 gallon bucket or more a day of vegetables. I have by the end of tomorrow..canned 40 pints of Sweet pickles..and I don't even like them..lol I mean they are okay..I'm just a dill girl.

I have froze and given so much squash away..yikes..everybody has squash here!!

My new found love is my old dehydrator. It is just a plug me in type with no controls..and 8 trays. My first one I use to have was from the 70's..controls..fans..ect...I had bought this one for a back up..and it's been backing up storage now for 15 years.I even tried to sell it during a garage sale.Nobody does this anymore.

Well my little pea brain started worring about the 6 weeks worth of food we have to take with us..into Hurrican alley...the weight in the House on Wheels (cans goods do add up) and of course limited freezer space (even tho we have a double door) so as this pea brain was a wondering..an idea popped into my head..I know scary huh..lol

Dehydrate...so I tried it. First to get rid of some of this yellow squash...cleaned..sliced..layered it..plug it in..and 8 hrs later..dehydrated ..crispy squash. Okay now what...I put it into a mason jar..and then I pondered...hmmmm...would it really re-hydrate..so experiment time..I dropped some into a glass of water..then I got busy..2 hrs later..It did!!!! Wow. Now what could I do now? Poblano peppers...yep same routine..and 7 hrs later llittle crispy green shriveled up peppers..water test....Yay..it looks normal..Walker tasted it..dry and wet..he said it would be great cooked in our food.

So like a mad woman..I have been slicing and dicing veggies and dehydrating them..and then storing them in glass jars..Hmmm I think I need one of those seal-a meals!! Isn't Fathers day around the corner..I mean He does eat the stuff..lol

Out of curiosity..I went to my favorite learning site..You Tube..oh yeah baby...you can find Anything on here. I typed in Dehydrated foods..and Walla.... video after video of dehydrating how to's.

Now I am excited to know that I will save sooooo much room in my pantry in the House on wheels.This is relatively easy....inexpensive....and will help on the nutrition level. It won't be fresh....but it will give us the vitamins we need! I give this a huge thumbs up!! I didn't get paid to say that either! Hey I don't get paid for any of this..lol

Well time to finsh with the second to last group of sweet pickles. Let me know if any of you have done this before..the dehydrating..and whatcha think.

More Flooding

My heart is so heavy with extreme sadness. Those poor families in Arkansas. The same system that hit us 3 days ago..turned more deadly in Arkansas. Reports say this was a heavy tent camping area..you had to pack your stuff down the hill to the river. Cell phones didn't work..and most didn't have weather radios.

Our prayers go out to all involved..and for the rescue and the recovery teams..To be finding children bodies..oh my those poor people!!

Flooding

There is a beautiful ..usually calm river that is famous for being the Tubing river in Texas. Her name is the Guadalupe River. This time of the year there are thousands of campers..tent and trailers all along the River.There is a Massive lake called Canyon Lake on the upside of the River.New Braunfels..Gruene..Lake McQueeney..and our town Sequin..lie below the Dam. If it rains above the dam..no big deal.This morning that wasn't the case.

It had rained off and on all night long..and a system set up right over the Guadalupe about 6:00 this morning. 10 or more inches fell in this area..no warning...Massive flooding..they say it was mass exodus of people trying to get off the river..with their lives..no tents or rv's could be pulled out.They said the water rose 1 foot per minute. It was pure survival.

The amount of Rv's that were lost or heavily destroyed would blow your mind.All that water goes thru 5 small dams on the way to just below my house.We will always be okay. The saying goes..if my house gets flooded..the whole town would be gone!! It is suppose to crest here at 32 feet..at around 1:30. this will make records like the 72, and 2004 flood.Massive flood damage.There are homes on the river worth over 1.5 million dollars to just good ole weekend homes. there was no warning..we have a siren system..that started going off around 7 something this morning..and people were told to RUN...Praise God..all our family is safe..no one lives on the river in this clan.

My heart just sinks for those campers...there have been reports of people still in campers..floating down the river..oh my!!!!

Please pray for these families. Will report more later.

Okay since the question I asked yesterday was received so well within this community..I have another one..lol
By the way thanks so much for all the help on the kitchen question!!

The new question..let me set it up for you..when a hurricane hits..we will have a general idea what state we will be headed to. After it hits..we have 48 hrs to be ready for the road..this is with 6 weeks of food..as much propane and diesel that we can carry and a full tank of water. We will be taking 2 trucks. Diesel storage tanks..full propane on RV and full water load..I know heavy!!!!!

Last year I sent off for all Gulf state camping areas..and info on each state.Research I can do!! Here is question 1. Is there anyone out there..who has had to go into storm ravaged areas and try to find camping? We have been told we could be has far as one hour away from our work areas.Any secrets I need to know about?

Question 2. Has anyone ever lived in these storm ravaged areas after a hurricane?..to give us some pointers.

Question 3. What wifi would you use in these areas?..we will have lots of paperwork to email to home office.

Question 4. What about the safety issue?..I will stay with the RV all day..while they work.

Question 5. There is a book on boon docking..does anyone recommend it??..We are tight on funds. any other books recommended? I wish there was an RV library out there..where you could ck them out and check them back in. lol

I will always lean on God for where we are suppose to go..I also know He knows my curiosity and wanting to organize skills..so this is why I ask. We get our work orders from the home office..and they set up a war room so to speak.But this is all for work..no help with the living part.

I was shocked yesterday to see how much info on upkeep of your RV is on You tube. We received no manuals for our appliances..this did help.

Kitchen Quiz for the Cooks

Last week was a quite week.. It was a week filled with re-cooping after the wedding. For me that was major sleeping in. For Walker that was off to work everyday!

I did manage to put up 9 pints of Southern Sweet Pickles with a new batch brewing right now. The recipe has been posted on my Rick-Rack and Gingham Blog.

This weekend I put up 5 quarts of Black-Eye Peas..5 Quarts of Green Beans..a large bag of Ploblamo peppers in the freezer..and We gave away 5 gal of mixed squash. We are now eating a few tomatoes.Yummm!! We even had enough okra for some frying with the squash.The garden is working well this year. The drought and severe heat last year..made it a joke to have a garden!!

The push is now for us to concentrate all our energy on getting the House on Wheels ready to hit the road.
Where are we going? Dunno..we will wait for a hurricane to be sent too. Now don't get me wrong..I do not want a hurricane for us to go to work at.I hate that we are depending on a large storm to make a living. Yet life continues..hurricanes do happen..and well...we will go to work where we are sent.

So with that said..I now have to reorganize the House on Wheels...some of the "extras" need to come out..yes I am de-cluttering!! I know some of you are doing the" I told you so dance"..I did say "some" stuff..not all!!! lol

Now this is where some of you House on Wheels cooks come in hand....do any of you Really use your oven..your cook top..on a somewhat daily basis? So many seem to eat breakfast only in the RV..we won't have that luxury.Soooo..what are ya'lls favorite appliances that ya'll have taken with you in the RV..besides the coffee maker. lol

We fix all our meals here at home..eating out is rare...so I need you Cooks to lend me some ideas!!And does anyone have a breakdown how long roughly a tank of propane will last..just running the fridge..and the stove?

Jim and Sandie are in Oregon..my Birth family lives there..and their pictures are making me homesick..and it's not even my home..lol..Ali is also in Oregon with the carnival. Karen and Al are doing the leisure back and forth to the homeplace travel..and trying to catch their cats..lol Karen and Steve are taking long weekend trips also.

Sam and Donna are getting their RV ready to hit the road..we will be doing that next week..hurricane season is around the corner..and we need to get the House on Wheels finished..to live in..but the Wedding first!!

The garden is coming in full force. Everything is going into ziplocks.. till a later date of canning..too much on my plate right now.

Green beans..yellow and white squash..and now cucumbers...yumm!

The wedding is this weekend...Our children start arriving home tonight with their clans....so ..I won't post again until after the wedding..I hope and pray for everybody's safety on the road..and for all the fun experiences ya'll are getting to share!!

The Garden

Well here we have the newest update on the garden. After 3 1/2 inches or more of rain this week and lots of lightening..which is great for "greening up the plants"..the garden is going strong.

That is the corn field getting taller in the far background..the rest of that tall stuff..weeds and sunflowers..the rain has made every thing triple over-nite.

We are harvesting lots and lots of squash..wished ya'll all lived closer. We grew three kinds. Zucchini, Yellow Crook Neck and Acorn or White Scalloped Squash.

We are now picking green beans..oh my aching back..why do these plants grow so low to the ground..lol

The cucumbers are making little cukes!! My husband and son are already thinking about me making pickles..lol They like my sweet pickle recipe.

The Black eyes are always my favorite. They have such a cute bloom and then they vine.

The okra is coming along. It does love this hot and humid weather.

Here are our tomatoes growing.

We have had to already doctor the plants with some organic spray..now there are te-niny grasshoppers all over everything..bugs..yuck!! We need some geese..or guineas or ducks!!
No not really..we can't travel with them..lol

Well I hope you enjoyed the garden tour. We ate fried squash last night. My recipe is on my Rick-Rack and Gingham blog. I snapped beans last night while watching the finale to Grey's Anatomy.

I hope all of you that are traveling will have safe trips!! Margie and Roger..you could of had some fresh vegetables..just saying!! lol For those of you at home still..I hope and pray that life is treating you well. We are wanting to strike out soon..but now he has work..so we will stay here and work till there is an hurricane..and they are predicting quite a few this year..yuck!!

Boring Book..Yawn

Have you ever picked up a book..and thought... this looks interesting! And then you started reading it..and wow..it isn't quite there. How did this get published? Where was the author going with this?

Well... that is how I feel about this blog. When I started it..we were fixing to start a life changing adventure. The God allowed the doors to shut. That is okay with us..He protects us..we don't know the future.. He does. If we had taken that job..we would of been camping out in some of the coldest and the most snow this area had had in 20 years..no thank you!!

So the chapters in the book are kinda Yawn worthy right now..lol We are gearing up for a daughters wedding in 2 weeks. All our children will be together.. first time in 3 years. 5 children..9 grandchildren..now that is a Book all by itself!!!! I will post pictures all that week after.

The garden is starting to produce..but after 3 inches of rain this weekend..it is liable to start rotting! And we are suppose to have more all week. I want a Greenhouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! did I say that? lol

Answering some Questions

Good Morning to all!! Reading the blog news this morning Randy over at http://warnerrvnews.blogspot.com/
ask some interesting questions. I thought I would give it a try!!

One of the questions was..what type of games do you like to play? Early in our marriage 42 and card games was what all the young couples played on Fri. or Sat. evenings..then the children came along..and no longer could you sit and play anything..lol With 5 children and a host of their friends over growing up..it was survival..not game time.About 15 years ago ..my Parents..who were avid RV travelers taught us Mexican Train..we got pretty good at that game..sitting outside at a picnic table..kerosene lights a blazing..whiffs of Off spray and citronella spray circling our table. Recently with the computer around in our lives..We both play solitaire and I play several games off Facebook..in the Mindbolt game area...solitaires of all shapes and sizes...bubble spinner and Bejeweled..that will get your blood going...word games..got to keep the brain nimble...The newest game the family is enjoying..now that the grandchildren are a little older..is Ru mi-cube...The kids can pick out the numbers..we do the tallying for them..

Randy and Pam and Karen and Steve have been sharing about their solar on their RV's. This is something close to Walkers heart..someday we hope to go completely solar!!

Randy talked about food..it seems in reading the RV blogs that food is a central topic for all!! I am not sure how I will downsize my cooking techniques. I couldn't boil water when we got married..and what I did to a whole chicken for fried chicken..well lets just say..those parts have never been seen again! Through the years our family grew to 7 on a daily basis..most of the time 10-12. I can remember how far I could stretch a pound of hamburger..then the teen years appeared..and 2 pounds were needed..some times 5 pounds for 2 large lasagnas.
I have learned to slowly trim back less and less..with each child leaving the nest..Walker likes to take left over grilled meats in his sandwiches the next day..and we will both eat all leftovers. Being on such a tight budget the last 8 months..nothing gets thrown out..it is eaten then recycled into something else sometimes. I did have to sacrifice my very grande casserole dishes for some much smaller ones..the RV ovens are so..small. I will have to learn to cook in a crock-pot..being a Stay at home mom..I just cooked it right then.

Randy talked about a budget..well living as we do right now..it is survival first..needs second..and wants..well those have to be balance out carefully. Thank goodness I am a queen of garage sales..and thrifting..and have no problem with having used anything!! It often shocks people what I have bought..for almost nothing..and it is all but brand new! I'm sure when we are on the road full time we will keep a tight budget.

Randy ask several more questions..drop by and visit him and maybe you could share your answers.

I need to go work out in the RV..still adding storage areas and playing house..to see what will and won't work..lol
Hopefully after our daughter's wedding..we can actually go camping and give it a real test drive!!

The Garden is Growing.

I thought I would update you on the garden. This is Walker's baby.

We still need to plant watermelon and cantalope..and replant the okra and some more zuchini.

Tomato plants in bloom..still need homemade cages..maybe tonight.

Black-eye peas..we southerners love our southern peas! We need to plant more.

Green beans putting on their little blooms.

Sorrry for the duplication..couldn't get it off to save my life..lol

Squash..zuchini or white acorn? We lost the package..Surprise!!

Wished everyone lived closer..I think we are going to have a ton of squash!!

We Have a New Grand Daughter

Yes Miss Emma Grace has arrived !! We now have a new traveling companion..some day..lol
She weighed in at a whopping..6.10 ozs and big brother is thrilled. Kim is doing great..they will probably come home today. Papa will get to see her maybe this weekend.
Even tho she grandchild #9..it always feels like they are my first. It is instant love!! And so looking forward to all the fun adventures and laughter she is going to bring into this family.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Sorry I haven't been responding as much..I have been speed reading..there is so much to do right now.

Hope to post pictures soon of my trip to Abilene. bluebonnets are just now going full blast up here.

Texas Style Eating in Abilene

We are up in Abilene right now..waiting for the birth of our 9th grandchild. We all went out to eat today at a restaurant called..Belle's.

Now there is nothing fancy about this hole in the wall establishment. I was quite surprised that my daughter and her family had ventured here to begin with to eat. But I can see why they did now.

The tables are rough lumber tables with sooo many mixed sizes on chairs! The menu is:

Chicken Fried Steak
Chicken and Dumplings
Chicken Strips
Non-Fried Chicken
and Fried Catfish

now after picking your meat..you wait..and fill yourself with the most melt in your mouth homemade rolls..we put molasses on ours..some used honey.

then they deliver the meat all on one plate..the Chicken Fried Steaks are about 18 long and about 9-12inches wide..yep you read it right..they are Texas size big!!!

they put out mashed potatoes..green beans..corn..and gravy on the table in bowls..they will refill those over and over again..along with the rolls.

We are ..can we say stuffed!!

I forgot to take pictures..we were so hungry..I will take them next time..oh yes there will be a next time.

Walker is hitting the road and heading home..so I need to run..he take this computer..sad!!

Looking Out....

This morning as I sit here making my to-do list....I thought I would share what I see everyday out my Dining/breakfast room ..front porch window.

First some History...we bought this house in 1987..it was a 1950 something farm house..just your basic design. We lived in this house for several years..then we started making plans of how to remodel it..ourselves..totally..We did it thru the years in 3 stages!

Our original porch had a front door (which we kept) and 2 standard windows. We moved the entrance to the other end of the porch...now what to do about windows? We ended up with a
5ft x 8ft size all glass window. The view is what we wanted. I don't even have curtains!!

During the stage 2 remodel for Valentines that year..my husband bought me some roses from each of our 5 children..the colors were yellow..pinks..white and multi colored yellows.So I was always able to see them out the big window. After last years severe drought..and this past winter..severe temperatures..this is what has happened...they have all gone back to the original wild rose..that they were grafted on...soo.. yes I have roses..wild and wooley..but they are now all red...sad..oh well ..makes leaving them easier..lol

This is one of the fields I see when I look out. Our neighbor has an arena for Calf and Team roping. He has two-150 yr old Live Oak trees and always has steers with horns for roping.

Spring Time in Tx

I will try to explain what it is like ..to live in South Texas..in the Spring time.

First everyone gets the Garden vibe..You know..the weather is warming up..you have to plant something!! The Garden centers , Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot and our local grocery stores..all start show casing the grand color schemes of Spring and future Summer colors to come! There are pinks and reds of every color. Throw in some yellow and purples and you have a rainbow in your yard.

For us ..Spring means..Vegetable gardens..yummmm!! Walker plowed up the old horse pen..which was where the original garden had been. Horses are gone this year..so time for the tractor..more recently the tiller..Tomatoes..Peppers..Cucumbers..Yellow Squash ,Zucchini, Black Eyes, Okra and Green Beans have been planted. Throw in some Watermelon and Cantaloupe and I do believe we are waiting for a Feast!!

Now the weather in South Tx averages mid to upper 70's with lows in the low 50's. Now that doesn't mean you couldn't have a upper 80 day..followed with a upper 30 night...Welcome to Texas where the weather will change in an hour..lol

When you drive to and from town your eyes meander over to everybody's yards. With awesome pastures in full bloom with purple Verbena..and Indian Paint brushes....and of course Bluebonnets .This is the prettiest it has been in almost 25 years!! After the sever drought and heat last year..it amazes me how God protects the seed in the ground and how it flourishes so the next year!!

Strawberries are in full season here. There was a Huge strawberry festival in Poteet this past weekend. They say the desserts are awesome!!

Starting later this week and running all next week is FIESTA in San Antonio..parades..day, night and river..NIOSA (Night In Old San Antonio) food from every ethnic venue..drinks..Music and all out street party.

In every town around us the Farmer's Markets are now open full time..on Saturdays towns are having "Square Sales" or "Trades Days"....Huge arts and crafts sales downtown on the Squares!! How old fashion is that?

The State Parks of Texas will soon be filling up with campers of every size and shape. Through the years this is where our families have chosen to camp. Texas has a State Park Pass. I highly recommend it!

The history in this area is rich with the first German settlers to Tx...Remember the Alamo events in several towns..towns that were affected by the fall of the Alamo....Flower Trail drives that would take your breath away this year. Produce stands with Vegetables and fresh Fruit that will satisfy the taste buds of even the pickiest eater!!

So come on Visit South Texas in the Spring...

Fish Oil

Okay I know this is an RV sight..but I need to ask you folks a question....It's about fish oil..no..I don't need to know how to go fishing..and get my own oil..I need to know..is anyone taking fish oil supplements?

I haven't been taking my ever so crucial..and expensive..and makes me so depressed..Triglyceride medicine. Shame on me..but the side effects were openly killing me..from asthma..to leg cramps..to such depression..and honestly I think after 6 yrs my body had built up a tolerance to it...so I went rogue..and I quit..and I haven't been sick since being off of them.

Now I'm no dummy..I will get back on them after my daughters wedding..but I thought I would give fish oil a chance..this is where ya'll come in. Have any of you tried a particular brand..or have info on them that would narrow down my decision making time?

I know ...I can ask some weird questions sometimes..but that is what we do with our friends..right!! Right!!

Walker has so much work he can't get to it all..Praise God!! My daughter Kim is real close to the delivery of her Spring baby.This will make our 9th grandchild. Wedding plans our starting to to escalate with our youngest. Thank goodness I have done this plenty of times before!! Some of the girls are getting the camping itch....pop up tents are being traded for 5th wheels..yeah...we will look like an old fashion Wagon train..if they all get something to pull..lol
Need to remember in prayers..Justin the Marine who is in a HOT spot.

Decorating..House on Wheels

Walker hung this sign for me. It will lay flat for travel. It means alot to me..My sister Lisa gave it to me for my 50th birthday..when I look at it..it says it all...

This blue hutch was redone by Walker and I over 13 yrs ago. It was a dresser that Walker pulled the drawers out of..put in shelves..and wire doors were put on. It was used to store my vintage glass ware in. And the top was our decorations board so to speak for the dining room.We couldn't leave home without this. So now some of my baking equipment..serving bowls..and some vases have made it to the RV. Everything has it's own packing to travel in the hutch. The hutch will be strapped to the wall for travel.

The top of the dresser-hutch will be decorated for the holiday seasons.

This sign was given to me by Wendy and the kids. I glued it to the top for travel and the flowers are wedged in there.

This coffeepot light switch was in my grandma's cabin..I rescued her...now she will greet me in the mornings...lol

I realize there is alot of decorations in this home on wheels. Most are Really attached to the wall

others will be wrapped and will stay where they are..and others will be packed in the laundry baskets and placed in the bedroom. I know this is a lot for me to do, too pack up before moving. Our type of living will be different than most Full timers. We will be sent to a disaster site..and will be there for many months. And when we aren't ..we will live on our property. Down the road..we plan to travel..at that time we will purchase a newer..lighter weight trailer for daily hauling..At that time we will pack differently!

We sure enjoyed our visit last week with Bruce and Margie. I'm so glad everyone is safe from the rockin-rollin that went on out west.Prayers go out to Justin our Marine we are praying for.

My daughter Kim needs prayer..she is due in 4 weeks and she is already going into labor..hopefully she can hang on for two more weeks.

Visit from RV Blogging Friends

The Blogging world that I am always talking about...well today two blogging friends met up in the real world!!
We had the privilege to meet Bruce and Margie from "Bruce and Margie's Full Time Journey" This is a great one to follow if you are a Newbie!! Margie and I have been chatting on each other's blogs since I started blogging 6 months ago. She has helped me with all kinds of questions..on how to highlight something..pictures..ect...

Well ...when I found out they were headed thru Texas..and would be somewhat within driving range..I gave her a big shout out..let's get together. Now in Texas..being in driving distance is a big deal!! Our State is quite large!!!
Any hoo..we started e-mailing where to meet..they were coming to New Braunfels..25 minutes from our home...I gave them the choices of eatery's..Mexican (most go that route) German (New Braunfels is known for this..all tho the main restaurant is now closed) Italian ( they have the original..Johnny Carino's...mmm good) sandwiches (many a fast food place) or BBQ..what our state is known for. New Braunfels just happens to have one of the states top BBQ places.

Rudy's was built in the original"Crystal Chandelier" dance hall. This is the dance hall that George Strait performed in during his early years. The night we got engaged..we went there for a New Years Eve dance. They closed the dance hall years ago..and the Historical society wouldn't let them tear it down so..two restaurants are in it..back to back so to speak. Rudy's BBQ and Johnny Carino's Italian Food.

We so enjoyed our visit with Bruce Margie. This was our first "Meet the Bloggers" experience!! We would rate this a 10 out of 10!! My children were like..how do you know you will get along?

Well we write back and forth..and encourage each other already..I knew she had a sense of Humor...we both have had headaches with loosing weight!! Why wouldn't we get along?

And We did and so did the guys! The food was good the atmosphere really casual and the company was a joy. Now this will be a hard one for the rest of you bloggers I plan on meeting to live up too..lol

Okay.. I just let myself read her blog about us....my goodness she picked up on our talk quick!!!

Well this Texas Gal has had a long day..filled with new friendships ..good food..and a passel of company over this evening..more on that tomorrow.

1999 Easter Camping

Easter memories in 1999. We met my family..My parents who owned a 5th...my sister Lisa and her husband and their son Preston. and my sister Sandy. We normally would camp out during Labor Day weekend..but we had missed that last holiday together soooo..we decided to be different for Easter that year.

We went to Missions Tejas State Park..in East Tx.

As pretty as the park is..it is not 5th wheel friendly..much less big rigs.
Look how hilly it is. We are the wilderness..my parents are below us
there. You took your life into your own hands stepping out of the trailer..big drop off.

We took our children's picture in the East Texas Dogwoods.

The story of the dogwood is so appropriate for this time of the year. The leaves and the pink on them..represents Jesus dying on the Cross. They are one of my favorite trees.They won't grow here in South Texas..sad!! Wendy was missing on this trip..newlyweds!!

We decorated the eggs outside..no dye in our trailers..

Everybody got into the decorating!! Walker always decorates eggs with the kids!! The little one in red is my nephew Preston..he is 17 now..time does fly....

We had fun hiding the eggs in all new places..we just had to watch the poison ivy..yuck!! I am allergic to it..so I'm always looking for it!

The weekend was filled with egg hunts..many of them!! Bike riding....

Just good ole family fun..visiting..and of course food! We did visit the Mission that is there and the Indian Museum that is at the park. We did some antique shopping.

We always have campfires..with s'mores a course!! I miss the sitting around the campfire days. Maybe when the grand kids get older...

House on Wheels Entrance

When you open my front door..hee hee..the only door..you come up the steps to this..double door refridge..and laundry closet..now what is a girl to do?..lol
We were given the Nana and Papa sign for Christmas last year...and when the grandkids see our house or RV they will know they are in the right place!!

These signs hang next to the Fridge..both are safe to travel on the walls.

Home Sweet Home says it all!!

The bottom one was given to me by daughter Lori a couple of years ago...I love the sentiment behind it..I would never do it tho!

When you come into the House on Wheels to the right..there was this 1970's mirror..yuck..and Nana needed a bulletin board to hang pictures that the little ones make for us. The fridge has a wooden cover on it..so I improvised! I used Ceiling board..Walker measured it..I painted it..then it got glued on. Home sweet Home again..mmm..I guess I need to be reminded of this..lol

I think it needs some vintage button thumbtacks on it...must put that on my to do list.

The sunflowers over the wall cabinet..(that holds the gauges to the water system and septic).....Will always remind me of Tx..no matter where we are.

Pantry Questions

Cyndi from Wanderlust ask the question..How did I get the season packets on the back wall.
Easy Peasy..first purchase a shoe rack..you heard me a shoe rack. Then you cut it..yep cut it up!!
Get your trusty hot glue gun out...now this is where it gets tricky..you can put the glue on the top of the (now) wall rack..or on the wall where you are gluing the top. Then I tacked it down on the bottom corners.
I did this on the inside of ALL my cabinets in the Kitchen..for baggies..pot holders baking measuring cups..spoon ect..

Okay I'm ready... the big lecture is now coming from some...WHAT is She Thinking...this will bring the value down on the RV..Your right..IF I had a new RV..I would be hard press to do some of the things that I have done..BUT..I don't have a new one...and we have no plans for selling....it will probably end up on our place for our kids to stay in down the road. For now ...... It's ALL MINE...lol... I have hung things on the wall...will be hanging curtains.....more decorating pictures later on.

Margie of Bruce and Margie wrote this week about possessions and enjoying not having stuff all around her. I agree..I want everything in it's place..lined up and color coordinated and all.
I also want to live in a house..that's not how this journey is going down...so with that said I am trying to make the best of both worlds..lol

Texas Wildflowers

Spring is always a beautiful time of the year here in Texas..especially on the ground. Other parts of the state have beautiful flowering trees..not so many down here in South Tx. So we specialize in ground color.

These are our Tx state flower The Bluebonnet. The Hill Country will be solid in the fields with these. They are the prettiest I have seen in a while. Who would of thunk it after that hard drought last year. The little fuchsia flowers are called Phlox. Our fields out at the property have a mix of Bluebonnets, Phlox, Indian Paintbrushes and several others..

I'm posting pictures..just not where I want them..oh well baby steps..

Pantry...Gingham

This is my pantry finished. Me and contact paper don't get along!! I will spare you from the sticky stories!! lol

This also my first posting with pictures... the wall magnetic board is made of some 100 yr old wood from the original house on the property. We made these at Christmas and sold at a craft fair.

The pantry holds a lot. I try to pack in plastic containers for travel. This isn't even packed yet..
Well I'm almost finished with this cabinet. It makes me happy!!

I Hit 50 and I Got a Present !!

Well actually I hit 50 a while back..the 50 I'm talking about is HERE..50th post.

I was going to be so excited 50 post..whoo hoo. I don't feel like celebrating today.

A dear blogging friends husband was in a horrible wreck yesterday. He was air lifted then released to go home..the other two young people in a car were not so lucky. They both passed away. I don't know any details ..except Theresa's family needs lots of prayer!!! His name is Marc. He is injured and will be so sore!! Theresa's nephew is the Marine we pray for.

Technically it's not 50..the practice picture shouldn't count..and this one..well it's kinda of an message board for prayer...so #50 post will be coming up!!

Back to looking thru pictures. Have a beautiful day..and as Theresa said on her blog...hug your love ones..tell everyone how much you love them..life is so short!!

This past Monday I had 16 followers..this morning 22. I rubbed my eyes and quickly re-read some of my latest post. Had I mentioned a money give-away or something? What in the world was going on.

Now I realize that most people hustle with all kinds of give-aways to DRAW in the followers. Almost on a monthly basis. Don't get me wrong..celebrating blogging milestones is a lot of fun and I hope to share some of those milestones with ya'll soon! But I want to know my followers!!

Yes.. I do have more time on my hands than most..yes.. I can speed read....yes I am a people person..(some say I never meet a stranger)...yes I want to care for each of you and visit and offer prayers when asked..It is what I have said earlier on other blogs..we will become long time blogging FRIENDS....and hopefully get to meet someday and really visit!

I was looking at my followers list... 5 family and friends...5 sweet arts and crafts friends..and 12 R.V.er's

Now here's where the palms get sweaty...what do I write about..I still haven't figured out the picture thing...and we aren't traveling anywhere yet...Arghhhhh

Update on us..Walker has been working now for three weeks..Praise God!! We have decided to sell not rent the house. For you newbies..we packed up 33 yrs of household sold a lot of furniture and major equipment back in Oct. We thought we were going to be working in Oklahoma for 6 months on a construction job...it fell thru..yeah...did you hear about all their record snow this year..that would of been a nightmare living in the house on wheels..lol

The construction business in Tx is starting to open up a little..that is a relief for us!! Walker also has his Catastrophe Insurance Adjusters License..which means this summer we could be sent out after a hurricane. We have been told when that happens....we have to take up to 4-6 weeks worth of food and supplies with us....which means I need to be creative on storage in the house on wheels.

Our House on wheels is a 40 ft 1998 King of the Road..I have taken lots of before pictures and soon to be after pictures..now have to figure out down-loading..I know..mechanics is not my thing!!!

I hope I haven't scared any of the new followers away...I did read about you guys this morning..looking forward to checking in with all you travelers...sharing recipes and crafts with my crafting friends..and sharing with ya'll our Topsy- turvey lifestyle!!

Spring..Organizing

I know..Spring is usually a time for cleaning..but for me right now..most of the house is packed up..we aren't ready to majorly clean for selling the house..so....it was time for me to make my pantry mine.

What you say?..What do you mean yours? Well the RV pantry isn't my BIG home pantry..it is not painted cute...so I had to make it cute. I used red and white gingham shelf paper!! I LLOOVVEE anything red and white. I took the measurements..came inside and started cutting. Oh yeah ..I added a scallop border to it. I had to improvise..I had to make my own pattern. Hey it worked!! Yes I took pictures..I will take the finished pictures later this week and will try to post them.

I also am making some organization panels for the "laundry" doors in the RV..boy I will miss my huge utility room here at the house.

I have decided on my creative blog title.( I will announce it next week)...have signed up with a new yahoo account..I wanted these two blogs separate..hopefully it will be up and running next week. Again it's the picture thing holding me back..old age..you got to love us slow learners!! lol

Well I don't know where these creative juices came from ..except the weather is gorgeous..my blogging friends are decorating their homes for Spring....and it's easier to be happy than down in the dumps!!

Spring is Here

This morning a beautiful sun rise greeted these tired eyes. then I went back to sleep. You heard me I slept till my hubby called around 9:30 something. My goodness I was Tired!! It was a long enjoyable week last week. I just can't sleep soundly when children are involved.

So now that I'm well rested..brunch was eaten..blogs visited..games on facebook played..a load of clothes washed..it's time to visit ya'll.

In blog land Tina from Cherry Hill Cottage posted a Sweet and Salty snack..mmm it does look good. I recently had a box of Honey Bunches of Oats with Vanilla bunches..I love to eat it dry for a snack..I got a hair brain idea..melt almond bark over it....Oh my....ADDICTING...it is really, really good!!

Pre-School is Over...Wedding Check List

This week with John Walker has come to an end. I think I will actually miss all those musical tunes on t.v. I know I will miss that little stinker!! He says the darnedest things.

John Walker's mom Lori got here Thursday night. He was sure glad to see momma!!

Friday was spent with Lori getting her hair done for her bridal pictures and me making a spur of the moment bridal bouquet with real flowers. She was having her pictures that afternoon in Gruene, Tx.

Now for those of you not familiar with Gruene, it is one of the top places to visit in South Tx. Gruene offers antique shops, wineries and the Famous Gruene Dance Hall. It has been in many a picture show. Gruene is situated over looking the Guadalupe River. The city of New Braunfels is just a stones throw away. Gruene has quite a lot of restaurants to eat at also. Normally there are a normal amount of tourist milling about..but not the day we schedule the picture taking. It was the start of Gruene Market Days. Hundreds upon hundreds of people were shopping and milling around.

And here we come..parking was better than I thought it would be..we found some one leaving..yah!! Then I get the stroller out..load up John Walker and our purses and get the bride out of the car. Now the fun begins..Walking thru the parking lots and the crowds..Lori hiking her dress up to keep it from dragging..and oh yeah..her turquoise cowboy boots just a peeping out from under her petticoats. You read it right..cowboy boots. She wants to wear them at her reception to dance in. Can you tell we are from Texas!! lol

She got so many compliments on her dress..and how cute were those boots!! The town of Gruene has a lot of original old buildings and some reproduction old buildings have been built to keep the vintage look. She poised by an old outhouse..wooden fences..tin buildings..windmills in the background..ect..we also later chased the sunset to a country railroad area and took pictures on the track..so cute!!

Fortunately we finished before the norther hit. Wedding dresses and cold don't mesh!! lol
So one major item off her to do list for the May wedding.

So this busy week is now over. Walker and I will spend this evening grocery shopping for next week..he's at work right now. Wendy is getting a ton of snow this weekend. I knew I would miss it if I came home. I am sad about that..I wanted to play with kids. Kim has been working on her baby 's room this week. Kelly and Lance worked all week. My mom had her surgical ck up all is fine. The headaches aren't has bad. She continues with her physical therapy. Prayers go out to our men and women overseas! Remember Marine Justin.

Times Have Changed...

In watching cartoons this week..yes I watched the cartoons also...I have learned so much!! What has happened to the old cartoons..you know the ones where someone chases someone and bops him on the head...or where most of the cartoon is about the chase with a lot of music.

I have learned the tyrannosaurus only had two fingers..we wear green on St. Patricks Day so the Leprechauns can't see us..we get a pinch so he can see us..that being adopted into a family is special...dogs bark for water..food..to go out..to play.......ack says ack..add sn you get snack..add l ..you get lack..wh..you get whack..........and on and on......................!!

My grandsons favorite is Dinosaur Train...Super Why...Thomas the Train...Curious George anything Mickey..he is scared of Ernie..so NO Sesame Street!!

In my day..I can remember my mom forbidding us to watch the Three Stooges..we were Bopping each other like they did!! lol We grew up with Captain Kangaroo..If you lived in the Dallas area..Mr. Peppermint...and of course Romper Room. Woody Woodpecker was my favorite! Smokey the Bear, the Jetson's, Bullwinkle the Moose, Yogi Bear and of course Mighty Mouse and Deputy Dog!! Anything Disney whether animated or a T.V. series.

I miss cable because of T.V. Land..they had such wholesome shows for the little ones to watch. I need to stock pile some oldie but goodie DVD's.

Are You Wearing Green?

Do you remember that question in school? In our days not wearing green on St. Patricks Day meant a pinch on the arm. Where did that come from? Probably the same person who invented the "slug bug saying" Slug bug..whack you got hit on the arm.

St. Patricks day in the 50 and 60's was a day that Irish loved..for the rest of us it was just a fun holiday. My Grandma Gober was a Clarie..Pure Irish..and she did love that day. I remember the Irish lullaby she would sing and the tales of some Irish stories she told when we were kids. She love to watch Lawrence Welk on the St. Patricks Days special. She Loved the song Danny Boy!!! Really that is all I remember about St. Patricks Day. The main thing to us kids was the wearing of the green!!

I never grew up with traditional Irish food..And rarely was there any discussion about Irish heritage. They were Americans and that's what was discussed. Now days people of other backgrounds wear their heritage proudly...and yes I was adopted..and probably have no Irish blood at all in me..yet I am very proud of my Grandma's background. I can remember a conversation with her when I was in college. We were discussing lace..she was describing to me some lace she saw as a child..the intricate pattern. I wish I had listened better. She did get to travel to Ireland after my Grandpa's passing. She brought us girls back, woven purses..mine is red and I still have it.

Here in San Antonio the San Antonio river will be dyed green tomorrow..there will be a St. Patrick parade...children will go off to school wearing green...Shamrocks will appear everywhere..then the day is over and the next holiday April's Fool is around the corner.

Listen to your older family members..even little things will someday mean something.....Be proud of your heritage...I still don't have all my missing puzzle pieces for mine...I know Indian and Greek.
The shamrock....well it represents the Holy Trinity..... have a great St. Patricks Day..don't forget your green!!!

Pre-school music is penetrating this family room this week. We are keeping Lori's 3 1/2 yr. old John Walker. His day-care is closed for Spring Break. College town..lol

He is so easy to keep..so far. They use to live with us when he was born. He is so smart..no really he is!! The weather was on last night..he was almost asleep..and he says Texas..and points at the t.v...he knows his states..where some continents are..and so forth..and instead of saying the alphabet.he can now also say each and every sound they make. Montessori school is great!!!

Spring is here in Seguin..80 degrees again today. We ran to the nursery before they closed yesterday and grabbed some tomato plants and some seeds for various vegetables. We are still probably selling the house..so I am mixed about planting something. Walker says it's a bonus if it sells they get a garden...and if it doesn't sell right away we have some vegetables.

Well it's time to go out and play. Lori wrote me out an schedule for him. Trying to keep him to his school schedule. Hope you all enjoy this Spring weather. Remember prayers for Marine Justin..his family said he received the food packages. They are packing them up as themed food.

My daughter Kim is still feeling fine with her pregnancy..we will making that trip out to Abilene later this Spring. Lori comes in this Fri. for her wedding portraits and to get John Walker. Kelly put in her garden this weekend and his getting ready for her Scentsy parties. Wendy is busy as usual..they put a new front door on this weekend. Lance took on extra work at work..he will be so tired. Walker is now officially at work on a house..and has a few more in the future and some pool work also.. Praise God!! Me..I'm babysitting this week and puttering around.

Yoo-Hoo Lucy..I'm Home!!

I am home from my visit with my daughter Wendy and the grandchildren in Meeker Oklahoma. What an interesting trip. The girls, who are 6 and 4, had a dance competition early in the visit. Hence the reason I was flown up there to see and to help. The little one Ashlyn who is now 14 1/2 months ended up being really sick while I was there. She now has to see a pediatric Pulmonologist for her Asthma. Austin who is 9 got his top braces..hence sore mouth...and his new reading glasses. I took Wendy to the Emergency room a week ago today. She was running 103..and felt like the room was spinning. She recovered. Nurse Nana on duty..lol

We did take a field trip to Braumns Dairy Production...we had a moovingly great time!!
Wendy and I and the two little girls did an antique looking trip in downtown Shawnee. Prices were HIGH!! We enjoyed the day tho..didn't realize Ashlyn was so sick..it ended up a long 72 hours. There was a store that had several metal children stove sets..for you gals that are looking.
It's funny..not only do I notice what I would like.... my blogging sisters collections come into the picture also.

My week was filled with Children.... having fun..some bickering..lots of entertainment...good fellowship with Wendy...Sonic drinks...dollar menus..lots of hours at the dance studio....watching new movie releases with the adults....lots of road time..hence lots of pretzels and crackers..which are still my favorite snack!! A Mission trip with the girls from their church and a meal at Olive Garden with my girls..thank you Wendy!!

It is always so hard for me to leave from up there..I have spent so much live in time with them..(due to my illness that quite frequently keeps me up there for test. )They are like a second home to me.Wendy has always allowed me to be me ...and cook and clean and to go off by myself if need be. Saying goodbye at the airport was a first for us. I always drive. There were screams on arriving NANA....with lots of hugs!!The goodbyes were filled with tears and sad faces on all of us. I will be back guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for the EXCITEMENT..I wish all my readers could of seen this. Me..going thru the security check at the Oklahoma Airport. Bags packed to go on the plane the same way I arrived in Oklahoma. No problem getting there should be no problem going back!! Right? NOT!!

Placed back back in tray..Meds in ziplock..misc 3oz things in another ziplock..camera..phone and I-pod in a ziplock..to viewed by staff. Purse..shoes in another tray..I go thru scanner..yeah no bells or whistles....waiting for my trays..waiting..waiting....yikes they are re-running my back pack and meds..not once..not twice..but three time!! The security officer approaches me..are these yours? Step over here please. Now everyone is watching.....They take me to an area that I had to stand on one side of the wall and my stuff was on the other side on a table. My Prescription cough syrup had to be tested ..it was like watching C.S.I. dip sticks..chemical reactions..gloves...Okay no bomb chemicals..Thank goodness..I drink that stuff..lol

Then the backpack..questions..has anyone else touched this since arriving..yeah my 9 yr old grandson helped me carry it...my question..what is showing up to red flag it? He didn't like my question..whoops..keep my mouth closed....It turns out that my wind up..no battery..flashlight buried under my tempurpedic..(tied together pillows)...was showing up as a possible bomb. I about cracked up laughing....not a good time for my humor....so I didn't!! They rescanned it and it was cleared. I explained I had flown in from San Antonio..and there had been no questions..then this. That was okay tho..I would rather be safe than sorry. I thanked him for doing a great job and gathered up my belongings..and went to the nearest bathroom and just about puked. Here I was innocent and it still felt so weird!!

Then they announce that our 1 hr flight was loading early to get around the storms that were a head of us..great airsickness time for me. It was so rough..they didn't even serve drinks..swaying..swaying..swaying..up..down..yuck I am now thoroughly airsick..or so I thought!! We land in Dallas..reload..I move up to the front..maybe it will be better. The take off not too bad..then air turbulance..drop..shake..drop..shake..thank God the seat belts held..the pilot takes us up to 30,000 feet..ears non-stop popping..NOW air sickness..the RN sitting next to me starts taking my pulse..she had been watching my face color drop and my breathing change..rapid heart rate..she said I could never travel to super high elevations..or fly overseas. don't plan to fly overseas that is for sure. They served drinks on this flight..probably shouldn't have..at least 10 of us had drinks spilled on us from turbulence...lets say that landing never felt so good!!!!!!

It took my body several hours to re-established itself. It is great to be home. Walker started a large job today. The house was clean on returning..yeah!! My iris are blooming..everything is bright green..my asparagus is shooting up tall..it will be 80 today..I will catch up on reading blogs..maybe unpack..and just relax..my head still feels a little fuzzy from that ride home.

First of all ....Where Am I ?........O yeah I'm in Oklahoma at my daughters house.

Who's in my bed?........Sleepy little curly hair grand girls....one very floppy haired dog....and a very active grandson.

Grandchildren that can melt your heart..want to pull your hair out..and crack you up all in the same sentence!!!...lol

As I'm typing this..Austin is doing his math class...I'm on the phone pushing redial for the pediatricians office..Ashlyn is really sick....vegi-tales music is playing in the background....Addie is working on her phonics...Aleah is bouncing everywhere..bouncing is part of her!! Me..I'm still in my pj's at the kitchen table..blogging..what a world.I have bribed Austin to finish his math so he can type on my blog..we will see if that works.

Yesterday the girls had their dance competition. Both won 1st place in their divisions. Lots of curly haired girls..lots of makeup and adorable..glimmering outfits!! What fun. Then Carl took us to eat lunch at 3:30 to Santa Fe Steak House..yummy!!

Saturday night Wendy and I stayed up and watched Julia/Julia movie. I loved it!!

Oh yeah I haven't blogged since the twins have arrived!! My niece had her baby girls. Identical twin girls!!! Brooke weighed in at 5.4.....she is still holding that good weight. Kylie weighed in 5.1...she has lost some. Yesterday Kim got to come home..the girls have to stay a little longer..they did take their Iv's out..yeah!! Thank you for all your prayers for the family!!

My blogger friend Theresa heard from her nephew Justin. He is safe..and his receiving the packages they mailed to him!!

Well it is another day in chinese fire drill land.....literally ..you never know what is going to happen..lol I just hang on ..and go for the ride!!!

Do you remember passing those notes around in school? You are my Best Friend....Best Friends Forever..Sisters for Life...Secrets..don't tell....folded paper games....pick one.....those games and notes were our way of bonding. Even with kids who are Home Schooled..you see some of this as soon as your children get in a group..cliques are formed..bonding starts....it's human nature.

Blog land has some of these details in it. Followers= potential friends....comments=encouragement and fellowship....blogging=sharing ourselves.

I would like to say to those who are my registered followers and for those who follow silently.

Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Whoo-hoo..I'm taking a trip..a real live trip.Not a trip to the store..not a trip to Wal-Mart..a real ..pack your bags..trip!!

My son-in-law as succumb to the whining and begging of the kids..and my daughter Wendy to bring Nana to them. Well really the story goes..he had to work and I was needed to help for the girls dance competition..so the days were chosen..the tickets were bought..and then the competition was changed by a day..and I was not really needed..here's where the begging comes in...Nana will still fly to see them!!! Thank you Carl!!

Now for most of you that live far away from the grand kids..seeing them occasionally is how it is. Me.....well I have for the past 6 years driven up (South Tx to Ok.) to Meeker Oklahoma (7 hr trip) every 3-5 months ..and stayed 7-21 days at a time. My Dr. that saved my life..6 yrs. ago is there in Shawnee...and I have to return for testing and checkups..all the time!!

This is where the grand kids assume..Nana is part of their lives!! They are having with drawls..me too!! It is noisy..they inherited my loud voice...it is always a constant movement of bodies....yeah..both parents type A personalities..me too....but there is always..always..always...so much laughter..love..hugs...songs..dancing..and pure dee silliness..that it makes it a blast to visit!! Being I haven't been up there since September..we have alot of time to make up!!

I'm always greeted with shouts of NANA....big hugs....and the show and tell begins....!!

They have never had to pick me up from the airport..this will be fun!!

I will be posting up there..and hopefully Wendy can show me how to post pictures!!!

In my Blogging world I have met and found new friends all across the United States. What started out with me researching other RV blogging sites..has evolved into Vintage everything sites..Crafting Sites of every shape and size...Home improvement gal sites..Weight loss blog sites....and of course the RV blogs sites.

If you go to my profile page there is a long list of the blog sites that I follow. Feel free to click on and experience new blog sites that you maybe didn't know where to look. Sometimes when I am bored..which lately is usually...I can go on a site and start rabbit trailing....you know where you go to a blog on the first site.....that takes you to some more sites and so on..and so on..rabbit trailing!!

I have learned that there are some really beautiful women out there..that share their talents..their loves...their messes (lol)...their sorrows..their prayer request..and their homes with us out in blog land.

When I have ask questions..they have answered..when I have thrown out a suggestion they have thanked me...when I have ask for prayer..they have prayed!!

Speaking of prayer..I am sending out a prayer request for a Marine..named Justin..he is right now in a hard fighting area..his Mom and Aunt have ask prayer for his and his platoons safety...

Please look them up I think you will enjoy them. Now for me I just need to learn how to get my pictures onto the computer!! lol

I started this blog with the intent of us living in our 5th wheel and traveling to work. This hasn't evolved into the blog I had dreamt of. For you Rv'ers who have logged on..I do apologize for the lack of travel info..or the daily adventures in the House on Wheels. I have so enjoyed reading the wheres, how's and the lives of ya'll. Someday!!!

I will someday have my own crafting site..this I know!! But till then..I hope you don't mind me sharing with this site.

The free magazines that I sent off for last week are starting to arrive..yippee..my daffodils are starting to open up..the sun is shining..and we are hanging in there.

Praises....Kim and her family came in this past weekend...she looks so good pregnant!! Last Thursday..our littlest granddaughter Ashlyn who is 13 months had to have tubes put in her ears.
At the time she was deaf in one ear...we think she is hearing now..reacting to sounds!!!! We kept 2 of the grand boys Mon. nite for Kelly and Adam to go to the San Antonio Rodeo. On a sad note..a beloved dog in the household of Wendy and her family was killed by a car Sunday night.such heart wrenching sadness for his loss..Brutis was a Llasa that had just turned 3 on Sat. He slept under the cribs..highchairs and was a protector to all children of that home..we will all miss Brutis terribly!!! This past Monday was my 3 yr anniversary for finding my birth family.

It's Snowing...

It's snowing!!! The cry could be heard all over the Dallas ..Canton area. At last... no snow here in Seguin. The pitfalls of living in South Texas!! Sadness..Jealousy...Yearning......wait I have my memories!!!

My first remembered snowfall...was in Dallas..I was 4 or 5..my dad came and got my sister Sandy and I out of bed and took us to the front door. When the door opened it was like...Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz..when the house had landed..and she opened the door ..and said..we aren't in Kansas anymore....That is how I remember it....everything was white..really white white!!! I remember bundling up..I hated a lot of clothes...and going outside and playing in it..trying to eat the snow...throwing the snow..and falling in the snow..I remember my nose feeling sooo cold.

Snow Ice cream was always a fun thing to eat. My mom always made it after quite a bit of snow had fallen..something about eating clean snow? lol

My second big memory of snow in Dallas..I am now in my teens..we are over at my Grandma Gobers house..my cousins Michael and Linda and my sister Sandy and I went for a walk up to the Junior high..a couple of blocks away...on the return trip we decided to roll a snowball..not a bad idea..except we went thru the yards of many homes on our trek back to Grandmas. Needless to say the ball got sooooo large we ended up leaving it where we couldn't push it any further..yes..in someones yard!! Surprise..when they came home. lol

In 1985, living in South Texas, where snow is ..can we say RARE....We woke up one morning..we meaning my hubbie and 4 children at the time...to snow...Can I say S N O W..12 inches worth!!!Beautiful , powdery, white glorious snow!!! Oh the fun we Texans had. Everything shut down..no travel..... hello ....we don't have ANY snow equipment down here. We were shoveling with garden spades and good ole shovels. Someone got stuck trying to get to work..I won't say who!! lol

In 1999 I traveled in October that year to Fairbanks, Alaska. I was visiting our daughter by heart April and her family. It started lightly snowing 24 hrs after I arrived.The memory here...Snow in the town of, North Pole, Alaska....it was beautiful with all the Christmas decorations they have up year round. Then the traveling through the snow to Anchorage..one scary trip..yet breath taking!! Seeing Moose meandering in the snow..and learning that living up there is a whole different lifestyle!!!

Snow in Oklahoma at Wendy's house is always fun!! In the past 4 years I have seen more snow and ice than I ever thought I would. One of those years..it had snowed then had ice on top..talk about slick as snot..(Southern Saying) My grandson and I were standing outside..waiting for the rest of the clan to come out..we were going to the back of the 10 acres to check out the scenery..he had a modified sled with him..Carl had taken the wheels off..Austin said..hey Nana sit in it and I'll push you..so I did...so wrong...I thought..my weight would slooowww the adventure down..NOPE
I barely sat down..he gave a push..and wush..there goes Nana..all downhill..Thank God for the chain link fence..I crashed into it..no injuries..he was hysterically laughing..Wendy came out she had missed it..Thank goodness..she always has a camera..lol

The most recent memory of snow...was me in Oregon with my new found sister Diane. She drove me through The Mt. Hood pass to go to the town of Redmond to see our bro. Keith and Georgia my birth mom. That ride will go down in the History book for me. The amount of snow..and the treacherous driving through that pass..made us wonder what the heck we were doing. Diane drove it like a pro..both gloved hands..clamped to the sterring wheel..sweat on her brow..50's music playing..gum chewing and popping ( we have that in common) ride through the pass. Me..well laughing and taking pictures as usual!!! Pretty scary when you are only driving 15-20 miles per hour and you pass...Beware of Avalanche signs...WHAT..are you kidding me..quick turn the radio down..lol

My memories are with me all the time..lots of years living in The Dallas area..lots of snow memories..these are the ones that I chose to share with ya'll today.

If we had been working up at Wendys like we thought..we would have been struggling with lots of ice and snow this year. God knew the forecast before He sent us up there!! I think I rather live in a packed up house than in a house on wheels encrusted in ice and snow. lol

Someday my stories will be about travel. Thank you for following the wanderings and stories of this Mom and Nana living on the edge of where and when do we go..to live in the House on Wheels.....God knows..I will just wait for His schedule..and keep sharing with my friends!!

Snow always reminds me of the song verse....He washes me white as snow..Praise God for His love!!

I was just reading an article about how Valentines Day in the schools have changed. My goodness no Valentines exchanges..could hurt someones feelings....no valentines exchanged..because it encourages girl-boy relationships...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Remembering Valentines WEEK when we were growing up....In ART class (they have eliminated art classes in most schools) we were ask to bring a shoe box for decorating. OOHHHH what fun..tissue paper..red pink and white....cut-out hearts..of every size....lots of tape and glue..and crayons!!! Let the creating begin!!!!! Some classes wanted paper sacks decorated..some kids brought lunch sacks...others grocery bags..no not plastic bags..the real brown bags. Eating the heart candy with sayings...and exchanging them with each other. My daddy would gives us girls a heart box of candies..you know the kind you bite into..and either oooohhh and ahhhh are the kind you spit out..who thinks of the stuff they put in those???!!!! Red carnations were popular back then. And going to the store and picking out the box of Valentines that you were going to send!!

I remember thinking...how many Valentines I would receive..does Bobby Coe LIKE me...will they laugh at me if I say the wrong thing on my Valentine....What was wrong with this line of thinking for a child...Isn't it part of childhood. The memories I took from those years wasn't horrible scarring memories..they are filled with the fun memories of decorating..creating...and enjoying Valentines!!!!

As we got older..the pressures fell on the poor guy...candy..gifts..dates...we just had to doll ourselves up and enjoy the ride..fun to be a girl..lol

In college , my future husband sent me a dozen red roses in a heart shaped vase with cupid on it. That vase has come out every year for Valentines day for 34 years..this year it's in a box in storage. The thought is there tho!!!!! Through the years my husband has brought home to his children all kinds of surprises for Valentines. The girls loved it!!! He has given me a box of Turtles chocolates almost every year...they disappear quickly!!! My new found sister Diane..loves these also!!

Valentines will now hold a special place in my heart forever..reason...3 years ago this Feb.14..I found out that I had a sister older than me and that I had two younger brothers and that my birth mom was still alive!!!! Praise God..I was getting closer to healing this heart of mine!!
On the 15 they were contacted by an Aunt and told the news about me. I was able to talk to my sister and one brother that day!!!! So you see..Valentines Day will always be etched into my heart!!! My heart was healed..no glue..no tape..just acceptance and the start of love!!

Okay ..today was one of those days that if I had had a car I would of been hitting the antique and salvage stores...just to browse.So.... what is a girl to do?

MMMM....the Internet was at my fingertips...soooo...I went shopping....Kinda-of...

I found Catalog.com...there you can order FREE catalogs of every description. Me.. I chose the gardening ones...I can always pretend (if we sell the house..no yard)...I ordered several kitchen ones...from organizing..to decorating...still looking for just the right canisters for the RV..and organization for some other areas in the House on wheels. I ordered several catalogs on bedroom decorating...down the road I would love to change out the denim bedspread in the House on wheels..it has seen better days..lol..I also ordered some catalogs for clothing.

The only thing I have ever ordered from a catalog....was chickens and seeds....another story sometime. Looking through the catalogs on line... took care of the. ..I can't get out of the house itch!!

Saturday Walker and I hit a large Church rummage sale. I scored on several antique items.All under $6:00..pictures someday....We then proceeded to a Antique store that I haven't been in, in a long time.Prices have gone up!! Wow. It was fun..so we did another one! Then we headed to the grocery store..the afternoon before Superbowl..Crazy..I know..But we were able to get all we needed and got out of there!!

I have had BAD munchies all day..bored..and a delicious cake that was left here after the game...It will be gone tonight..thank Heavens! I need to put my music on and start exercising..so with that said....

Does the title ring a bell for some of you. That little jingle has been used throughout our lifetime..all whopping 50 + years to shout out for the team we love during whatever sport season.

This season...Superbowl!! Now did the team I would love to watch make it NOOOO. So then the jingle is silent??? Or do you just pick a team and go with them? Decisions..Decisions....

Now the food..no decision there..Kelly will be bringing over the chicken wings and sausage..guacamole and chips...jalapeno poppers....my Mother-In-Law as always..we have crowned her queen of the desserts..will be bringing something sweet. I now have to figure out what I will contribute? MMMMM????

In the past years my sister-in-law Shelly and her husband Jarrett have always had huge Superbowl parties. They always had shrimp boils....mmmm..delicious..messy..fun...so fulfilling!!

Growing up in Big-D (Dallas. Tx) the team of choice...was always the Cowboys..of course!! My dad and family was..shall we say obsessed....with the Cowboys...as a small child ..pre Superbowl era....yes there was a time before Superbowl....Roger Stabach ..the quarterback....was the name said in reference around my Aunts and Uncles and family...I actually thought we were kin to the man...Season tickets were bought..Jerseys were worn..topic of conversation from Thanksgiving to Christmas was..of course..the Cowboys!!

So in saying all this...hhhmmmm... Superbowl..a time for fun..friends..family and food..So I guess the team of the jingle this year will be ....*#$&*()&^%$#!@@#....GO..%^$#$%((%$$$!

Yee Haw...Rodeo Month

February always kicks off the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. If you have never been to a Large Rodeo before ..it's a blast..yet nerve racking.

Everybody walking around with cowboy boot and hats on..some true cowboys ..others..well they can afford to dress that way..but you won't see them on a horse.

This family is what Texans call true Cowboy family.What does that mean? Do the men wear wranglers....yep...even to DisneyWorld....yep..Do they wear belts with rodeo belt buckles..yep...
Do they wear boots,most of the time...yep.....Are cowboy hats and caps always on their top heads...yep...Do they own a horse or cows....yep....Do they drive large pick-up trucks...yep..can they pull just about anything behind those trucks..yep....Is farming a natural thing to them..yep
Is there a John Deere tractor in their lives..yep..do they love the smell of fresh hay..yep yep.

I barrel raced in High School and was Rodeo Queen at our college. I also have a deep love for horses. My husband and I were both in the Rodeo club in College, he also participated in Rodeos.Walkers family has always had race horses and he has been around horses and cows all his life!! Our son Lance was in High School Rodeo..and made it to State level 2 years. He Calf Roped and Steer dogged.(Scary for mom) He has continued to rope and participates in Ranch Rodeos. So you see we meet the criteria for Cowboy family.

In Texas the Livestock Rodeos are in Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. I highly recommend visiting one sometime.There is the midway..rides and food..the vendor buildings..lots to buy and look at...the animal barns..the youth show animals that they have raised during the year. My crew showed goats and pigs growing up.Then there is the rodeo..and top of the line entertainment after the rodeo. It is expensive..we haven't been in a while..but if you have never been to one I highly recommend it!!!!

Well this girl needs to saddle up to the sink and wash the dishes, then sashay to the laundry room for a little scrubbing on some of those cowboy stained pants..then I will mosey into the den for some relaxation on that thar couch......Okay we really don't talk like that..it is just fun sometimes to talk silly!!

Blah....Blah....Blah... oh yeah Blah

Blah #1..the weather.It has been soooo foggy and hazy.No sunshine!! And rain is in the forecast for the next two days. Boy, this has put a damper on my walking. Living in the country..if the walk area is wet..and or muddy..there is no walking. I think We are going to town later today..maybe a walk on cement is in the picture!! My daughter had 8 inches of snow on top of 3/4 inch of ice in Oklahoma. Kim had 5 inches of rain then some ice..so I guess I shouldn't be so bummed about the weather.

Blah #2...the house on wheels. We are still in Limbo ville. Just waiting to see where the jobs will take us. A few minor jobs here..Praise God!! So the Little house on wheels sits patiently in our drive waiting for us to move in. Also because we aren't on the road..no exciting stories or places we have seen.

Blah #3...the diet is going okay..nothing spectacular on weight loss..it's still a conscious effort to pay attention to what goes in my mouth. Remember I am a stress and bored eater..and right now I'm in both moods.

Oh yeah..Blah # 4..I'm tired of being blah..so hubby as ask me to help on the tax filing..sorting receipts and matching checks..yippee doesn't that sound exciting!!!! Well really and truly I don't mind.As soon as we are through we will head to town for some groceries..and he will graciously let me hit some of my favorite antique stores for some eye candy!! Having one vehicle now has made us a team in shopping and fun outings. After being married 33 years going on 34..I guess it is a good thing we really enjoy being together and have the same shopping habits!!

So no more Blah!!! I will enjoy the rain..it is from God and He knows what we need.I will enjoy this time with my husband..there are those who would love to have this time with their loved ones. I will enjoy my new eating regiment..it will improve my life to be able to enjoy the house on wheels in the future. I will enjoy life!!! Good..or Good

As a mom..I use to ask my children have you been good? You know that feeling you get in your stomach..that you KNOW...that they have been up to something....so you ask....Have you been good. And the answers.....oh my....they could vary..... from yes mam....kinda of....sorta of....I didn't do it! lol

Well this has been how.. the past couple of days has gone for me on dieting.Question to self....Cindy were you good this week?..... My answers would of been...good..I didn't eat the whole thing...or great I had a lot of salads this week....or Welllll...it was a birthday party..and I didn't want to hurt her feelings and not eat some cake.

Wouldn't it be extremely intoxicating to say..Oh my great..I was perfect in all food this week!!!!

I'm a long way from that saying...yet I was Good..and that's a start!! I actually thought about it... before putting it in my mouth.

Exercise has not been part of my vocabulary for a long time. I started walking..yeah!!!!! Okay don't get too excited..we are talking small minutes here!!! First day 7 minutes and now 10 minutes. I try to add a little each day! Marathon is not in this old gals vocabulary ....yet. lol

We are such hardy night time eaters. Our heaviest meal has always been at night. I would prefer the lunch meal to be big and minor at night time. Yet when the two men of the family come home after manually working all day..they are hungry!! We did eat a lot of vegetables this week!! Yeah for paychecks to eat vegetables again. When things are tight..somethings at the grocery store just have to go. Determined to keep the vegetables on the menu!! Garden???

I was dancing the other day while washing dishes..love my music...dancing is exercise..isn't it?

The Hiding ..is Out..

WHATTTT? Hiding what?Well.......privately for the last month I have been.....shhhhh....dieting! I know what a shock!!!!Mawa..need to loose weight? A ....Yeah!!! A LOT!!!!!!!! The stress from this wierd living arrangement..lack of money....no car ...as spun me into a stress eater!!! Well actually..I have always been one of those...and it never helped to have a kitchen that you Have to walk thru to get to the Laundry room, bathroom and bedrooms. It just sets you up for the munchies!!! I know what you are saying...duh...walk away from it..don't eat it...easier said than done. I have a husband who has not gained hardly ANY weight at all since college. That man can eat sweets every night before bed time and NO weight. (Disgusting!! )Did I say that? tee hee.

Luckily for me it isn't sweets that call me...it's just food..I seem to need to be munching ALL the time. I have always been a knawer..pencils..paper...erasers (as a child)...use to be ice (hard on teeth) always a gum chewer...and oh yeah a talker...mouth always moving!!!

Well I shared with a friend my dilema and she is in the same boat...so we have been privately encouraging each other on private chat Facebook for the last month on Tues and Thursdays.Then about a week ago I stepped out of my comfort zone and announced on Facebook..I need to loose weight. Great support and response.So now it is blog land time.I Cindy Brewer need to loose a lot of weight. I need to feel better..I need to not be so fat....I need to get back to being me.There it has been shared.

We were suppose to be in Oklahoma working....and me exercising with my daughter Wendy everyday..not happening...so I am on my own. I have had super low potassium and low oxygen in the blood for the last year. This as kept me from really and truly exercising. But Enough is Enough...I will take my life back!!!!!!! So today I put some fun music on and moved. My son's dog Bo..isn't sure about me....he thought the recliner was part of me...?...poor confused dog.

I know this will be a slow and steady experience..what else do I have to do? I have lost 5 pnds since starting this venture a month ago. I'm not going to put a goal out there..I will just continue on the venture..and really try hard.

This is where I will be conversing on Tuesdays and Thursdays about "ME"..no really about loosing weight..lifestyle change..(pretty drastic already)....no gym membership....limited food budget....and hopefully a change in "ME".

Good Morning All!!!!
What an interesting past week. Walker has left every morning this week..lunch in hand..out the door to work. I will... never.... take it for granted that He goes to work. It's such a blessing right now for us.

All our children are well and thriving.My Kim is not very comfortable in this stage of pregnancy. The baby is sitting on a nerve..ow.Lori gets her Wedding dress sometime this next week.19 weeks to the big day.My niece Kristen is battleing morning sickness and her sister Kim is due with twins in the next few weeks..she is feeling miserable.Praise God.. ..5 children went well for me...lol

The weather has been gorgeous this week..in the mid to upper 70's.It will change..this is TEXAS.
My parents and friends in Canton, Tx. had a rough night last night.Tornadoes did some damage on the outskirts of town. This is to early in the year for that kind of weather. I have a feeling spring is going to be interesting. RVer's Rick and Sherri had hail damage to their RV last night.We are glad they survived that!!!

My thoughts have turned back to decorating and making the home on wheels more like "Home."
Out of curiosity..what do you RV.er's clean your Cabinets that are oak with?And vacuums..are there any favorites with the house on wheels gang.

I'm getting ancy to move in the Rv and test "live in it" but that's the control person in me.lol
We still haven't cooked ... bathed ..or even slept in it yet. Living in the.... in between house..boxes and home on wheels is getting on this..creative..organized..oh I NEED my nest..woman's nerves.
No complaining..just some mild whinning...tee hee!!

Well I need to head off to chore ville..you know that place where if you don't do it...it probably won't get done. Looking forward to a much smaller cleaning area!!!!

Praises this week..my mom is a little better..more Dr. appointments next week for her. Thank you for all the prayers and kind words.That... The Somewhere in Time... guys survived the bad weather last night.That Walker has a job right now...the weather is beautiful..my health is good right now...for friendships all across this awesome country....

Our Life ..Now

Here we are already into the new year...and we are still job hunting. Walker was up and out the door this morning..lunch pail in hand..to work on an outside project for the next few days..yeah!!!
We still have our resumes out in several states for jobs..maybe we will hear soon. We are now looking at selling the house. Anyone want a home in South Texas? lol

It feels good to be home..even with everything packed up..it's still our home.My recliner has called my name for the last two days..I was physically and mentally exhausted..after being up at my parents house.I'm not the young home nurse I use to be..lol.They are taking mom in today for another cat-scan..something isn't right. Hopefully they will get it figured out.

My cousin Linda went in for a simple liver test last Monday in Dallas..the Dr. nicked a main artery in her liver and she about bled to death. It was touch and go there for a few days. Praise God she is now home and doing well. Wow... life can sure have some twist and turns.

The weather is warming up today. Some of our pipes took the freeze wrong. Luckily Walker can fix just about anything!!! We are suppose to get a lot of rain on Friday..they are talking flooding.We are just fine where we live.

I need a project now that Christmas is over. First I need to unpack luggage and clean the house
mmm...maybe tomorrow!!

I enjoyed talking with some of my High school friends over the holidays. It's funny after 35 years we didn't miss a beat with sharing with each other. They have been a source of strength for me lately. I know God has re-entered them into my life for a reason!!

I'm actively trying to shed a lot of pounds..my daughter Lori is getting married in May. So I need to get busy with the weight loss. My biggest eating fault is stress eating. No stress around here..lol...I have to figure out a way to out wit the impulse. Any suggestions?

I have finally caught up with all my reading on all the blog sites. You girls have been busy organizing. I'm impressed. Looking forward to all the new goodies everyone will be creating this spring. The RV ladies are having fun..some got caught in this freezing weather..ouch!! Looking forward to their upcoming travels. Hopefully my story will get more interesting soon. Looking forward to a new adventure and work!!

Moms surgery

I have a few minutes to blog...We are running off the hospital wi-fi!!! Mom made it through surgery fine. We are waiting for her to be put in a room. Thank you all for your prayers. We still need them.Anxious to see if the surgery worked. Will update when I can. I'm going crazy not being able to read everybodys blogs...catch up reading... for a later date.
We saw Laurie Annas building in Canton yesterday. That was exciting to have met a blogger on line..correspond..then to see her business...anxious to meet her..maybe this week.

Documenting Life

It might be short while before I get back to blogging. My mom in Canton is having surgery Monday.It should be okay..but it is a very difficult type of surgery....they have called in the home nurse....me. I have to admit...my mom makes an excellent patient. she rarely complains.. if at all. She's always very thankful for the help. My dad worries so....that means ...after all theses years... he still loves her..so rare now days. I would appreciate the prayers from blogland.

Today I put up the few(9) rubbermaids of Christmas.I have had to pack things so differently this year. This is the first time in 33 years that we didn't put up a live tree. Luckily I had 3 small wilderness pine trees I decorated. I have things separated... Christmas permanent storage..and Christmas RV storage. It wasn't bad..just different.

Have you ever received a pass down vintage gift..and you have no idea who originally gave it to your parents or what year or store it came from? Well that frustrates me not to know the history of items. Silly I know..but that is the way my head goes. Years ago when I started collecting Christmas villages I started writing on the bottom of the items. ...okay you collectors can bombard me for defacing an item!!!! With 5 children..(5 villages)...my hubbie wanted everything documented who gets what and so on in case something happens to me . He would be lost!! So out comes the sharpie marker...the year..store(some don't exist anymore)...if I bought it or it was given to me.....what set it stays with...and sometimes a love message or memory. I love it!! I would of loved to have opened up decorations from my grandparents and read these things.
We sometimes think we have time..to say or tell someone who gets what.... or how we got it ..or how we feel. I learned along time ago with rare health problems that life can be changed quickly.
Take time to document your life..your objects..your thoughts...share with others what means something to you..in sharing you are bonding!!! So many times at Goodwill or the local thrift store I see discarded keepsakes..it is so sad...lucky for those of us who collect vintage..but sad for that homeowner who had cherished that wall hanging or picture or whatever and now its sitting on a shelf in a junk store.

I love visiting other blogger's sites..you all share your thoughts, creative juices, collections, and sense of humor.Looking forward to this New Year...remember my mom in your prayers. Will be back hopefully next week.

Looking back on 2009

I can't believe that this year is almost over.

Last year we started the year off in Oklahoma. Wendy had Ashlyn on Dec. 19 and she was born with heart problems. So..instead of a Christmas visit..it turned into a Nana needs to stay and help out with the kids visit. Praise God..Ashlyn was healed and is now full of life and mischief. My oldest and my youngest both share this month for birthdays.

February rolled around with Hucks 1st birthday..He is now such a rambuncious little ball of energy!! Always smiling..just like is momma Kelly. February is my anniversary month with my family in Oregon. We celebrate our two year anniversary. I talked to them for the first time on Feb. 15.2007. I now have joined facebook.....MMM ...would I like it?

Spring rolled around and we planted a large garden. First one in years. It was so pretty..then the extreme heat and extreme drought.....well we kissed that garden goodbye. It was fun while it lasted.

In May my mom celebrated her birthday along with my now 6 yr old grandaughter Adalynn.

June rolled around with a huge 80th birthday party for my dad..I enjoyed seeing people that I hadn't seen for at least 30 years and relatives that I hadn't seen for at least 10 years. Then.... off to Oklahoma for Adalynn, Aleah's and Austin's big Dance recital weekend. Walker was able to attend. That made the grandkids weekend. Kim and Christopher came down for a lengthy visit. John was overseas. Walker and I celebrated our 33rd Wedding anniversary!!!! He is still the love of my life.

The summer was spent trying to stay cool and to swim in the pool. July rolled around with Owens 4th birthday party.

I'm now spending the summer..tremendously sick. Asthma, Bronchitis..pneumonia I can't seem to kick it. Missed my 35th High School Reunion. Due to Facebook tho...I have reunited with classmates and was able to see pictures of the reunion....mmmm..I think I like this Facebook network!!!!

August comes..and the heat is unreal..we have now broken all drought records and heat records..nothing is green,,everything is brown.Wendy and her 4 come down for the first time in a year. I teach Adalynn and Aleah how to jump in the pool and swim to the side without floaties. I created swimming monsters!!! Kelly celebrated her birthday.

I turned 53 this year..I don't feel that age in my head..yet this body does feel it..Must work on that in 2010!!!

Sept. Walker turned 55..it can't be..he still looks like he did when I met him in college.

Lori had a birthday then Kimberly then Walker..whooo that's a lot of candles being blown out..lol

October is Austins 9th birthday and we are now seriously looking at living in a RV and working on the road. We have a garage sale..sale lots of our furniture and put the rest in storage.And well ......this rest has been blogged about. Oh yeah ....I started a blog...which brings us to now...

The job we were going too in Oklahoma has fallen through. We have put in applications in several states...with several companies....what are we going to do...... you ask? I really don't know at this point..As Christians we are just leaving it in God's hands and praying for some relief from this pressure cooker life right now!! The trailer is packed and ready to go.

Summing things up for this year..I Praise God for my friends on Facebook..Each of them have contributed at various times moral support and prayer and we have formed new and lasting friendships!!!!!

I thank each of my traveling fellow bloggers. Margie M and Margie and Pidge for all the great advice and the new friendships...I can't wait to meet you gals on the road!!!

I have enjoyed all my new blogger friends...Melissa, Sandy and Tina have been so helpful to this new blogger!! And to each and everyone of the other bloggers and followers who read...... this most of the time .....ramblings....THANK YOU....

And I want to thank my Husband..for putting up with this new way of me expressing my feelings and being my biggest supporter.

Christmas Day

It's almost here...you know the day..the day that no matter what age you are... you wake up smiling...smiling for the excitement of what is under the tree..the family that you get to see...the good food you will be eating that day....the excitement of the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a young child I remember a white tree sitting up on a table....silver strings( icicles) hanging off the trees, red, green, orange bright lights, lights on our house, memorizing ..Twas the night before Christmas. going to see Santa with my sister Sandy at Big Town Mall, North Park and sometimes a fancy store in downtown Dallas. My Grandma Gober had a silver tree with a color wheel in front of it. I remember toys ..candy...and cousins. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty the Snow Man and the Wizard of Oz on t.v.

As I got older my memories were of very decorated trees..making ornaments at School and at Church..singing Christmas carols at Church and at School. Being in Christmas plays, last days of school being all parties!! Still seeing Santa ( not so scary now)seeing our cousins. One year my sister Sandy and my cousin Linda and I all had matching white felt skirts with Merry Christmas on them, net with bells under them(boy did it itch),shredding Christmas paper as we opened presents in lightning speed. I remember robes, new outfits, toys ( Chatty Cathy, stuff animals, Slinky's, silly putty, roller skates and one year a bike.) I'm sure there were many, many others but those are the ones that have stuck in my head. Being told not to open closets or trunks of cars. ( That was passed down ..we used those hiding places also..lol)

In my teen years I remember the malls and how decorated they were, How everybody was moving so fast, gift exchanges with friends at school. Still singing those Christmas carols at School and Church. Now... really recognizing the home decorations of my home and at my Grandma Gober's. Grandma always made the kid table so decorative. ( I try to do the same for my grandchildren) Getting really excited about being around the cousins and the Aunts and Uncles. And now really understanding the Birth of Jesus!!!!!

High School and College..it seems like we were to big for Christmas..you know it was alll about the presents..and if you had a boyfriend..what he was getting you...Shallow ..yeah I know!!!

Then it happened..I feel in love..Our first Christmas he gave me an ornament..a green coat and a Raggedy Ann...I still collect Raggedy Ann ornaments...Our third Christmas and on... was kid central..and now Grandkid central.....

Through the years as a married couple we have loaded the car with sleeping children and drove all night just to spend Christmas with my family..and turned around and drove back home ...Walker worked the next day..most of the time early on Christmas Eve was spent with Walker's parents and Christmas day with his grandparents at lunch. Some Sundays before Christmas were spent with my Mema in Canton. Growing up she always had Christmas Eve. Grandma Gober had Christmas Day Lunch.

I have always tried to have a big Christmas breakfast...after getting my Christmas china..I would deck the table out. This was my time to shine..lol..we would have breakfast casserole, fruit salad,
pigs in the blanket, sausage balls, and cinnamon and orange rolls. This menu was adapted from my mom . I think breakfast was her time to shine also. My girls are using most of the same recipes also.

Two years ago I received some of my childhood decorations..stockings that always held an orange, candy cane and nuts. Ornaments that were so fragile..and that were stared at for many hours growing up...Tree toppers that fascinated me so. These are held so dear to me. Childhood is such a fleeting moment..yet the memories are so strong.

I want to thank my parents for ALL the Christmas's of long ago..for the toys..the food..the fun..the good memories and for the family who loved me. To thank them for raising me in a Christian home..and learning the true meaning of Christmas. I know they are reading this..I love you both!!! Thank you for adopting me and giving me a great home to grow up in.

Christmas Treats

Why should Halloween get the all the treats. I think Christmas should have some too!! MMM..let's see..what are some Christmas treats? I know..I know...sweets..yummies...you know what I'm talking about.

Around here our sweets consist of Buttermilk Pralines...passed down from my mom Louise..my daughter Kim has mastered this hard to make candy..yeah!! Then there are the Cream Cheese cookies..very colorful...made with a cookie press..challenging but fun....homemade Sugar cookies...to be decorated by the grandchildren this week....Noel Bars...gooey and with pecans..and lemon bars..sprinkled with powdered sugar. Microwave Peanut Brittle..yes I said microwave..It is soooo easy.... The salty comes from good "ole Texas Trash."..commonly known has Chex mix..it just has an added spice or two....the latest yummy is..candied pecans...very addicting!!

My Mema use to make Red Velvet Cake...I do too..just no one around here really likes it..so I just dream about it.......She also made Coconut cake and pies.....she also use to have a gumdrop tree for us kids..I had one for years , the frame broke and I haven't had one in along time...mmm...must find one, for grandchildren!!.... My Mother in law makes divinity....fudge....pies..of every kind....Chocolate Chip cookies....she loves to bake!!!! My mom always has the pralines and a chocolate cake when we get there.

It's funny I don't remember much about the food at Christmas growing up..but the sweets were etched into my memories. And today people around me would say..she's not a sweet eater..yet Christmas rolls around..and the baking starts!! My Extra Large oven finally bit the dust...my daughter shared with us her small Toaster oven..she said ..you can cook cookies in it..so out of desperation..I did..4 cookies at a time..yep....you read it right..4 at a time. I'm used to at least 24-36 at a time with my old oven..but by george ...it got done!!!! I'm telling you any other time of the year I would of passed..but not Christmas!! Now to make up the icing for the grandkids to decorate tomorrow.That is what they will remember!!!

I hope you enjoy your baking this year..( or your buying at the local bakery) It doesn't matter..as long as you have fun..and build memories with your love ones!!

Cyber Cookie Exchange

With Christmas right around the corner, everybody starts thinking about yummy..mouth watering..not suppose to eat ..heavenly delicious....oh those smells ..of Christmas baking ..for cookie gifts or exchanges.

Now me personally..I'm not a huge fan of sweets...I'm more of a crunchy..salty person. Yet ... when this time of year rolls around..I do love to bake. I rarely do the cookie exchanges....I make gifts baskets tho...for my husbands business he works with..for a few friends..and for relatives and now the girls and families.

Being my home oven went totally kaput..most of my kitchenware is packed.....my kitchen is crammed full right now on the counter tops with all the crafts we will be selling this weekend....Cookies in the real world ...probably won't happen this year..and my waistline thanks me!!!

Soooooo...I decided on my face book page to host a cyber cookie exchange. And I decided why not for my bloggy friends~!!!!

When you post your comment ..please give the recipe..a story about it...and describe to me what you would deliver it in.....

Now in the real world..if you don't live around relatives...and you don't have anyone really to exchange with..make up some cookies and take them to the shelters in your communities...some of the homeless this year...had kitchens last year....they were cooking cookies for their friends and families...and now...they are on survival mode...Christmas cookies always perk you up!!!!!

Surprise..I'm not in such a foul mood. I decided to write in red..it is... Christmas time. Walker hung up the outside lights for me. He is trying so hard!! Maybe this weekend I will put out a few decorations in the house..all the furniture is gone or packed up. So I will have to get creative.

Today is my grandson... Christopher's birthday.He wanted snow..I think he got his wish!!! We even saw a few snow flurries here in South Texas..this is rare!!!

Walker is out getting the trailer ready for the 24 degree night we are suppose to have.

A High School friend of mine just found out a couple of weeks ago that her mom had cancer. On Dec 4 she passed. This family had an awesome Thanksgiving with each other..laughing, telling stories, joking with each other..little did they know that their time with her would be cut short. Kathlene said she knows her mom is in Heaven with her husband and daughter who went before her. What a comfort to know where our love ones have gone...when our Faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

My yuckiness over.. NOT ..getting to decorate..sounds so silly compared to what others are going thru. I need to remember Who's birthday it is on Dec. 25th. Mary didn't get to stay in a Nice hotel..She didn't even have decorations all around her..She had her family..so do I...for that I am thankful!!!!

Well I will keep the title of the blog. I'm sure..positive..and determined that we will get to hit the road...some time in the near future!!!!! Faith is just stepping out....Well..we have stepped.....now it is in God's hands!!!

Praises..Everybody is healthy...Walker has a small job next week...we saw snow....my sister Sandy got a job....

As I'm writing this I'm mulling over the idea of changing my blog title. I feel a little bit foolish with a full timing themed title and we haven't even pulled out of the drive. I am not a very patient person..and this no job..no destination stuff is driving me quite literally into a very sullen person.

We have been somewhat busy. A group of us are having a Craft Christmas sale on Dec 12. One of the gals works at the Hampton Inn and the manager has donated a meeting room for us.Soooo we are cleaning out our shop..and making things to sale. 24 years ago we had a business on the side..Heritage Wood..Walker built kids trestle tables, pouting chairs, shelves..ect.. I had a business Touch of Country..I would book parties and sale Heritage Wood products..and other items as well..We did quite well at the time...But baby # 5 for me put a stop to our business..So the know how is there..and the tools..now to get creative.

Well it is the time of the year that I normally have ALL my decorations up, lights are glowing, Christmas music blaring..All 5 villages are up..Santa and Snowmen collections are out..all three little trees are decorated..Large live tree is being decorated..Christmas dishes are being eaten on regularly...........not this year.....everything is packed up..some are in the trailer...but I just can't sit out there all day. What's a Christmas oholic to do?

Im not depressed..just in a foul mood there is a difference!!!!

What a week of food...You heard me a w.e.e.k. of food. What is it about Thanksgiving that makes you put in your mouth..what you would never eat during the regular week. I don't eat sweets. I have eaten chocolate chip cookies..buttermilk creme pie....chocolate bars....and I DON"T eat chocolate..weird huh..I think it has to do with stress..you think. lol

The food lasted well into the leftover, leftover stage..you know what I mean. First it's the meal..then the leftovers..then you try to make the leftovers into NOT leftovers..but they still are!!! And they were still delicious. Back to real food life today!!!

On the House on wheels..well I flooded the house. Not on purpose..although.......No I wouldn't do it. I tried my washing machine..simple huh..not. My grandson Christopher and I were out in the House on Wheels..playing Christmas music and vacuuming. The washing machine was doing it's thing great..no leaks ...no weird noises..yeah ..we have a winner!! I started out by checking the grey water gauge..less than 1/2..okay now start the machine. We were minding our own business when Christopher says..Nana there's water in the tub...WHAT?...go get PAPA....stopped the machine..assumed we could bail it out or drain the tank..simple....no way ..not the Brewer's!!!

Walker looked in the belly..and yep there was water dripping in it..where from you ask..the hole in the fiberglass tub..yep you heard me..the hole. He yells get the water out...so tea pitchers and a Rubbermaid I grabbed off the porch..I start bailing out the water. About 8 gallons into the bailout..I noticed water around my feet?????? The Rubbermaid has a huge crack on the side and the water pressure was making it worse...so..I struggle to picked up the Rubbermaid (water is HEAVY) Rubbermaid breaks..water gushes out..sloshes all over me..cascades down to the real wood floor in the kitchen...now I yell....GET ME ALL THE TOWELS YOU CAN..they do...water is now pouring into the belly through the plumbing pipe in the bathroom..All because I wanted to try our washing machine.

How many fire extinguishers will we need when I try the drier? Scary huh!!! Everything dried nicely..Walker will patch the tiny hole in the fiberglass tub...we must have some film over the reading in the gray tank..suggestions?

This week Kim and family came in from Abilene. Lori and family from College Station. We had a good visit. Some of the Girls did the 4:00 in the morning shopping..Wendy was selling her bow creations up in Oklahoma at the mall ...she did really good..All in all it was a good week.

Yesterday was the three year anniversary of John Delay Brewer's passing. He was Walker's dad.
Now that man loved a good Thanksgiving meal.!!! Cherry pie was his favorite. We all miss his wit and his being around.

Praises this week..everyone is doing good health wise. I talked to relatives all across the country...Walker had a day of work....laughter was all around us..friendships are growing...life is good.

Thanksgiving Past

Normally the Sunday before Thanksgiving the Kitchen wheels are turning and a churning here at the Brewer Household. List are being made..the large serving pieces are being pulled out of their hiding places..the turkey is starting his thaw...and me..well..I'm in accelerated speed!!!

Not this year bucko..nope..It is slloooww as molasses here at the house!!! Thanksgiving will be at my Mother-in-laws home this year. So this gives me lots of time to remember Thanksgiving past.

When I was growing up Thanksgiving Day was... my Grandmother Gober's day!!! Every year..even after I got married..she had Thanksgiving. As a child I remember the excitement of seeing my cousins Michael and Linda..and later Jimmy, Stephen, Gretchen. Donald, Jennifer and Suzanne. My mom and aunts all dressed up in their dresses..us in GOOD dress clothes..(don't get dirty and please don't spill anything on your clothes) every mom's mantra!!

We would arrive to a flurry of activity in the Kitchen. I remember the sound of the famous electric knife being used to cut up the big ole turkey. We little ones would go outside, under supervision of the dads, and play some..but usually we would stay inside so we wouldn't get dirty.

The big topic of conversation..what I can remember..was the Dallas Cowboy Game..to be played that day. The meal HAD to be finished before the game started. ( such pressure to us cooks!! lol)
Politics was another conversation I vividly remember.There was a new guy on the horizon..Senator John F. Kennedy...

Finally the food was ready. There was an Adult table and a kids table..you had to be 12 or 13 to move up to the adult table. Michael will be the first then it will be my turn.

Food..Turkey, mash potatoes, gravy, dressing, ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, fried okra and the rolls.....no not homemade......those package rolls....4/$1.00.......those were the best rolls..we kids made a meal off those!!!! Later when we were hungry......adults looked at us as if we were crazy..didn't we just eat lunch? Yeah.. but we ate rolls!!!!!

Then there was dessert..oohhs and ahhs were passed around..My Aunt Doris would make this Chocolate sheet cake..that to this day gets the same response. I'm sure there were other desserts..I just can't remember them.

I remember Grandma in her apron..her never seeming to eat.( I figured this out yrs later..it's call ..we tasted everything while cooking..we are now full syndrome.) She was always smiling..she never seemed under pressure...She always hugged each and everyone of us..and there was never a crossword out of her mouth to us....There were whispers of Christmas is our next holiday...the excitement builds!!!

Later after Grandma passed, I was married and Thanksgivings were divided up between my folks and Walker's folks. The food was always great..fellowship..full of memories..but it wasn't Grandma's.

Since then I have had a many Thanksgiving at my home..full of fall decorations...Food similar to Grandma's..with new ones added through the years...our children all here..first with dates then later with husbands..and now with little ones....what will my grandchildren remember about Nana and Papa..I hope and pray it will be sweet memories...no matter where or what we are living in.

For this year I give thanks for being able to remember my past...for being here in the now..and for years to come. I pray that each of you reading this ..to have a beautiful, memory making Thanksgiving.

Limbo-ville

Do you know where Limbo-ville is? Have you ever been there? Well let me give you a quick tour!

We are standing in the middle of Limbo-ville. It is filled with uncertainty, some tears, sick stomach, the unknowing, unorganization,..yep.. that about describe it. Some of the good features are..wait....well....okay no good features. I would not recommend this trip to anyone. Now that we are here what are we going to do?

Prayer, sense of humor, go ahead and cry.(tears help)and keep your eyes on the next destination. That is my daily mantra. We have been waiting for the "Okay" from Wendy on the loan..so far it is looking good..a couple more hurdles to overcome. Now instead of being there before Thanksgiving, it looks like two weeks into December before we make the move. Soooo....

I decided to take the Thanksgiving decorations down in the House on Wheels. No I'm not depressed..just practical. We are not having Thanksgiving here at the house..We aren't fully living in the trailer YET....this will be one less Rubbermaid to haul back to Seguin for storage...and frankly..Thanksgiving colors are pretty..but give me my RED-GREEN-GOLDS-SANTA'S-SNOWMEN-AND MY VILLAGES!!! This is what makes me HAPPY!! If momma ain't happy no one is happy. LOL

Sooo.. I have set up Christmas in the House on Wheels. I will get to enjoy it longer this way. I know that I will have to pack it up for the move..I have the time..This way the local grandchildren can see Nana and Papa's new home decorated.

Walker has been cutting firewood to sell..still no work. He needs to finish up some areas in the House on Wheels then I can finish packing his clothes and a few other things. I will be setting the house up here in Seguin for our son Lance to live in it. I have just about finished all my crafty furniture redos. Walker did all the heavy remakes. I will be posting all the pictures and the steps of the redos soon. I am working on setting up my crafty blog site..probably not till after Christmas tho.

Praises this week..Our friend John has been taken off the ventilator and will be moving to a step down ICU. Everyone in our family is well.

With Thanksgiving around the corner..even tho my decorations are packed up..I still want to celebrate Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for being a Born Again Christian, an American with all it's benefits, a wife and homemaker of 33 years, a mom of 5 beautiful and talented Children who have blessed us with 8 ,soon to be 9 grandchildren. For a family who raised me in a Christian home. For being surrounded by Aunts and Uncles and lots of cousins. For two sets of Grandparents that were everything to this little girl. For a daddy who sang to me when I was little..A mom who was there thru all my hurts and owies (there were so many), for two sisters who we share many a mishevious moment and I love dearly, for my Husband who is and always will be the Love of my Life..for my sister, nieces and brother in Oregon who have filled this small crack in my heart with love..to all my High School friends with whom we have rekindled friendships and laughter..to all my friends local and afar that have always been there....for all my new followers...Here's wishing each and everyone of you a ......HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!....... What are you thankful for?

Eanie Meanie Middy Moe ?

Do you remember the game you played as a kid? Eanie Meanie Middy Moe which one do I pick? That is my dilemma. What you ask? What utensils to use in my house on wheels kitchen.

Okay for those of you without a RV..lets see.. go to your bathroom..now look at the small counter..look at the space..now imagine a really small cook top, counter, sink, some overheads and lower cabinets, and a whopping 4 TINY drawers. Now that is your Kitchen!! I could have gotten at least 7 or more of these little kitchens into my kitchen at home. Get the picture.

Now the dilemma..what cookware to take. Because of the little oven..none of my normal, large or extra large bakeware will fit. That eliminated most of that. No decisions there. I won't be cooking for large groups anymore..remember I'm use to cooking for 3-12 all the time 20-25 on special occasions. Walker wants me to take the cast iron..We have a lot of this. He will be cooking outside on a pit at Wendy's house. I'm taking 1 electric skillet, 1 crockpot, 1 coffee maker, regular skillet (maybe 2) some quart pans and a large dutch oven..and some small pots. The rest.. well I guess storage..for a while.I packed up all my canning stuff in a large rubbermaid and my tamale fixing pots (large pots..several) in storage..See I weaned it down.

This is hard..so many of the RV blogs talk about eating out..We can't afford to do that. We won't be traveling around like a lot of the full timers. We will be at our daughter Wendy's house for about 6 months then off with a hurricane adventure. I guess my decision making on the mixing bowls will be next. I have my favorites!!!

I know this is probably boring to many of you. But go to your kitchens and ONLY set out a handful of cookware, dishes, cooking utensils, storage containers, silverware, ect..see what all you are leaving behind. For a mom who has always cooked for her clan..I feel like I'm leaving behind old friends...

Walker worked on the ever so sagging slide in the bedroom today. Thank goodness for his southern ingenuity..no we didn't use tuck tape..we would if we had too. lol .Tomorrow Walker and Lance will tackle the 14ft slide..I believe I heard them mention angle iron..don't know..don't want too.

I worked on painting my scrapbook dresser/table..looking good. Yes, I have been taking pictures. Will document as soon as I'm finished.

The weather is holding out..It got up to 79 today..lows in the 50's. No work for us yet..at least we have time to work on the house on wheels.

The praises for the week..our friend John is hanging in there..lonnngg way to go for him and his family..My niece in Oregon found out she is having twins..two days later found out their girls!!!!!
my parents are cracking pecans..by the tons..great year for them. Kelly is starting a couple of part time jobs..Wendy's children's bow sale last weekend went great..My son-in-law John's oral surgery went well..Kim's pregnancy is going on schedule..Lori and family come in this weekend ..we will be discussing her upcoming wedding in May..Lance is liking (or tolerating) his new job..Me well ..I'm looking forward to living in the house on wheels...I think..LOL

Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day..you know the banks are closed..no mail..some schools are out!!Whoopee it's a holiday!!!

Yes,it is that to some..but to others it's a time to remember the past..the hurts,the fears,the sadness of love one's who never came home or for those who came home in a casket.

My uncle was a Green Beret during the Vietnam War. I remember what I saw on TV on the nightly news, some minor discussion at school but other than that the war was somewhere else to a kid in the 70's.I do remember some of the guys talking about the draft. Again I was oblivious to my political surroundings.

Today I listen to all political chatter. We know quite a few military young men and women. My two son-in-laws are active Air Force. My head is now in the game. The game of being an American!! Today I know my freedoms are from ALL the Americans thru the past wars fighting for me and my family. To be able to attend the church of MY choice..to be able to Vote..To voice one's opinions...To be able to travel from state to state..to live and breathe with freedom.

On Pins and Needles

This week started off with a message from my High School and College roommate Susie. Her husband had suffered a massive heart attack..it didn't look good. Wow..what do I do..I'm 6 hours away..no funds for a quick trip..limited info...Sooo..I do what I can..I pray and I notify others with information and hopefully prayer.

Face book becomes our quick info gathering site. Susie's daughter and I would talk..I would post information on John..others would read and post the same on their sites. Prayer was flooding through Face book to all. John having had a small heart attack a few years back and being a retired fireman..knew the signs..he called 911. John coded twice in air flight..and 8 times at the hospital. Finally stabilized they were able to perform heart surgery...7 new stints.

Today's word is HOPEFUL!! He is recognizing people (they thought possible brain damage) He is off the blood pressure meds..he is trying to breathe around the ventilator..organs are now functioning great!! All this since Monday afternoon!! God is such a healing God!! Prayers were answered.Thank you to the faithful whom prayed for John.

This would be a great time to discuss with your love ones what is to be expected if this was to happen to you or yours. Susie and John had discussed organ donations, life support ect...Susie said this took some of the pressure off of her if she had to decide something at the hospital.

Tell more than 1 family member of your decision..just in case both of you are in a accident.
You can carry a note in your purse or wallet. On your cell phones..type in the name ICE (in case of emergency) EMS are trained to look in the phones under ICE and will call that number. For those of us who will be traveling together..use ICE as someone else in your family..or you can program in ICE 2.

As a Born Again Christian, and someone who almost lost her life 6 yrs ago, If you think that you will have time to talk to God before you pass..NOT..when you are close to death..your mind knows nothing..time is like a second..Knowing God before something bad happens will bring you comfort and your love ones comfort!! I had no bright light moments..I was peaceful..and my favorite song was playing (not by family) "We are standing on Holy Ground..There are angels all around.." I was totally in God's hands!!!

Today the sky was bluer, the birds sounded happier, and I felt like I could smile again for Susie and John! John is not out of the woods yet!! So if your reading this I send out a plea for their family with more prayer!!

We worked on the trailer today.Tomorrow we try the Gas. ( a prayer for us.:-) Walker has almost finished my scrapbook desk. I will be posting pictures soon. We are enjoying turning furniture that wasn't being used.. into new creations.

Praises this week..We had a small job!! The weather has been great..Everyone in family is well..My mother endured all her back test this week..John's healing...I had an off day..but way more good days...

My friends in blog land

Not all of my posts will be about family..traveling..living in the RV or life. Some will be about my new friends in Blog Land.

There is a whole new world out there. I have logged onto the vintage..crafty blog sites along with the RV and weight loss sites.

Someday I will have my crafty blog up and running but until then I will enjoy other blog sites. One worth mentioning is Melissa's Heart & Home. She is celebrating her one year blog anniversary. I have only been on a month and have made several new friends and have learned a bucketful of information on crafting and RVing.

So when you see blogs that I'm following look into them also. They explain a little more about me and my likes!!

Nap anyone?

Today is one of those beautiful fall days that we here in South Texas rarely get. The sun is shining, the air has a crispness to it,and birds are everywhere. It's like they disappeared during the extreme heat and drought that we had this summer. And now they are everywhere along with the butterflies, house flies and MOSQUITOES the size of dimes and nickels. Did not miss them this summer.

Kelly and family came by to pick-up a dog house and some old fence wood for her projects. The boys were so cute. After leaving I came inside..looked at all the stuff that needed to be done and said nahh..to the recliner..ahhha a nap!!!! This was what my body needed..my mind was outside and then it would jump to another project..but my body won..a nap!!!! The cell phone rang an hour later..as I got up I almost fell on top of Walker...his body won too, a nap on the floor.

Yes we are enjoying this fall weather and the Fallback time..with napping!! Are we getting old or what? I do feel 100% better. I have connected with cousins and aunts today..made new friends via blogging. So my suggestion to you is enjoy life take a nap!!

Tomorrow Fall will still be here, clothes will still need to be washed,the birds will still chirp..sometimes we just need to stop and nap!!!

Halloween Memories

RV-Adventure Margie has challenged us to remember our Halloween past. I am known for my vivid memory of the past..but for some reason I'm kinda hazy on my early Halloween years.

I do remember my Casper the Ghost outfit. Candy being handed out of a big bowl. Children yelling Trick-or-treat smell my feet...Our schools in Dallas always had carnivals that we went to. I remember goldfish being won... weeks later... being flushed down the toilet...I remember costume parades at school....candy corn...carmels..large Hershey Chocolate bars,Baby Ruths and Snickers. We never worried about poisoned candy. Popcorn balls and candy apples were handed out freely. My Mema had an awesome popcorn ball recipe yummmm!!! Actually we ate these all the time at her house.

In my teen years we traveled the neighborhoods in groups. Some mischief occurred...but nobody ever got in trouble or hurt. During my Martins Mill days we went to the school carnival in the country and then Hayrides!!! We always had to go to the Martins Mill cemetery. I hated this part..I was so scared of the dark. The boys loved to scare me..I would always end up crying..I was such a scardy cat..maybe this is why Halloween wasn't my favorite holiday.

Our children who also inherited their mothers fear of the dark were never in to Halloween. As homeschoolers we decided that the month of October they could dress up anyway they wanted and I always had candy out for the month. So we would have a campfire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows on this night. Sometimes our Church would have a fall carnival and we would help with that.

Well that's all I remember about this holiday. I hope you will take Margie up on her memory lane challenge. It's fun.
